Not sure if a bypass is a real bypass if they go to all that cost and there’s absolutely zero duplication so you can get past the truck or caravan in front of (aka Scone).

Having done this drive about a thousand times now, I still appreciate the vast changes in scenery that you go through - in good seasons when it's all green; in poor seasons when it's all greys and brown, and after fires when it's still a smoking wreck. It's got some wonderful scenery - and if you know where to turn off here and there, some epic waterfalls! A slightly longer but equally scenic alternative is to drive north of Armidale to Guyra and head to Ebor from there - the rest remains the same.

Thank you for the video and thanks for driving like a competent person. Driving not always in the right lane showing you are obviously better than most drivers these days. Nice work! 🙏😁

Imagine all that metro, busways and railways you could have built with that funding, ressources and engineers. Just one more lane won´t fix traffic.

This has to be a joke. What scenery? Just bare grass hills. Straight road for miles, single lane each way, few overtaking sections and 110kms at 100kmph! Even worse on a motorcycle with NSW police cars catching ACT drivers and riders to gain state revenue.

15:51 if your wondering why the traffic lights aren’t on is because the road isn’t that busy and only used for if the m1 motorway get closed down

1967 to 1973 our annual 2 weeks Christmas holidays at Thompson street Toowoon Bay. with my parents. Long Jetty, Toowoon bay and The Entrance as a 5 year old to 11 year old. The carnival at The Entrance, trampolines, swimming at the Entrance rock pool, Toowoon bay and prawning with large drag nets and hire paddle boats at Long Jetty, my first a garfish at the jetty at the end of Pacific street but beware of the pelican itch! 🤣 Roller skating at the Long Jetty roller ring. My first movie was the Sound of Music at The Entrance cinema, all the moving lights prawning in the lake. Central coast will always hold a place in my heart but so many things have changed.

Such a beautiful basin wasted on all those politicians!🙄 Why the six-month lag between filming and posting? Is it a normal thing?
@GreatAussieDrives17 күн бұрын
I generally only have time to edit and upload one video a month and to mix things up the videos' filming order doesn't necessarily correspond to editing order. I make sure all footage I upload is less than a year old, though!

Just want to say that guy in the grey Nissan Pathfinder at 2:00 is a shit driver. Empty left lane but moves the right brake checks you then when you move left he speeds up cuts you off to exit off the highway.

Nice! The first 7 minutes particularly familiar as for several years I worked in Civic and commuted from Theodore. And many years before that madcap Friday night runs to the snowfields! Agree with you about the scenery, especially the mountains out of shot in the West.

We rode through there in 88 for the Bicentennial Bike ride and some local was trying to explain how Monaro is Aboriginal for a plain or something when from the back an Italian called Tony Farciano piped up and and said no its Italian for fast car.

One of my personal symbols of home is the poplar trees that early settlers planted in the region around Canberra. They are becoming less obvious on the Barton and Federal highways as they keep being upgraded but there are still plenty along the Monaro. There is a huge stand near Michelago.

Great video mate! I remember travelling alot on this road when I was little, definitely one of the most scenic roads in NSW! Although it does get quite congested at times, even in the summer. I hope it will get upgraded to dual carriageway someday in the future…

I guess experience plays a large factor here. As a L plater who decided to give this route a shot at night, especially after after the various winding roads leading up the Peats Ridge Road. Scenery would be a lot better during the day I suppose, late at night on these near empty roads was a nightmare 😅

Great memories...was driving this road after getting license in 64. Always loved the bendy Hawkesbury section. Surface was concrete and largely single lane. Tht was prior to the Calga Freeway section and then the F3. Would become very choked on Sundays with few double lanes, Thanks for posting.

Great video. I've done this road many times between Sydney and SE Qld. It's good for some variation compared with doing the full New England highway. Just be careful not to fry your brakes heading from Nowendoc turnoff down to Gloucester. And some of the turns are blind and they are pretty tight too.

why australia has so little motorways? for example why did M4 end straight at Penrith? Why not extend it to Orange? or M15? At least Victoria is doing something to expand its motorway network...
@GreatAussieDrivesАй бұрын
I think its because just how concentrated Australia's population is in its major cities, the only three cities linked mostly by "motorway" are Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra (even then its mostly just limited access dual carriageway)

I'm surprised Melbourne have this amazing wide backbone stretch of freeway.

@GreatAussieDrives fair, honestly. For me, I love the whole driving experience, including shifting gears and clutch control. But you do do a lot of city driving, and if I did, I would probably just use an auto.
