It’s not just rapping that defines Hip Hop. Personally, what KRS-One is talking about is New Yorkers as a whole helped mold and create Hip Hop. Watching documentaries like Style Wars, or 80’s Hip Hop movies were so multicultural. They never showed exclusivity, since NY isn’t a segregated community. I remember when there was a period when NY didn’t even want out of state people speaking on Hip Hop to where it even sparked the East vs West beef!
