Hi!, between these two, which would you choose? taking into account that the only thing I'm worried about is the temps and that they might suffer thermal throttling... My use would be: Light code, casual gaming, lots of web browsing, dual bool with Ubuntu/Windows. - P14s G5 ( R7 PRO 8840 HSM 32 GB RAM, 100% sRGB & 400 Nits ) for around 1200 USD - T14s G4 (R7 PRO 7840U, 32GB RAM, 100% sRGB & 400 Nits) for around 1240 USD. Nice review Btw!.

Thanks. T14s as this will have the power efficient 7840U (cool running) but plenty of power for your needs. The 8840HS runs hotter and faster but the performance gain over the 7840U is minimal. Funny enough I've been recently circulating the P14s G5, Lenovo have the same spec (2.5K WQXGA) for £792 plus taxes ($1000) I like my bargains!

@@kristhianznr Of course there is the new ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 (14" Snapdragon)......Only question mark will be Ubuntu on ARM is still flaky.

@@Dovecomputers Yeah, Snapdragon ARMs look good, but I would wait a couple more generations for them to finish maturing as they should... Especially with Ubuntu.

I use it every day for work (7 months), still looks new. We've deployed hundreds of the 14 and 16 models, not had one back yet. 👍

I have this laptop with the RTX 5000 Ada and the 4k OLED. I wish that the speakers were better, that they had an Ethernet port, and Lenovo included a haptic touchpad like on the Thinkpad Z16 Gen 2. Another thing that the laptop needs is another M.2 Slot and ideally one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot for future-proofing. I also can't get the HDR to work in the hybrid integrated graphics mode. This means that the battery life is really bad Overall, not a perfect laptop, but a solid laptop overall. .

hi, I got this laptop in awesome condition and used laptops. Watching this video in 2024 June. It is already installed with windows 11 pro. Need your HELP as the keyboard driver has some issue and question mark key and function plus brightness key is not working properly. Hardware is almost new.

What an excellent in depth review, Thanks so much! I'm trying to decide between a Thinkbook & Idepad slim 5 - with almost identical specs. Would you say the Thinkbook is worth the slightly higher price tag - in terms of build quality/reliability? 🙏

The ThinkBook 14 has the slight edge over the IdeaPad Slim. Similar build, but the ThinkBook has upgradeable memory and SSD. IdeaPad memory is soldered on. My ThinkBook 14 is still going strong, using it daily for IT admin tasks. Intel U-series processor is OK if you are only using basic office tasks or web apps. If you need more performance go for the AMD models or the i7-13700H model. 👍

It would be interesting, but right now there really isn’t much of a point. Qualcomm hasn’t upstreamed much of the drivers, but GPU drivers are expected to land in 6.11

Coming soon. 😁 Can say, Intel U-series, not great. Stick with the H-series ones. Haptic touchpad works well on Linux.

@@Dovecomputers In Latvia we only have 125H with MAX 32GB of RAM, and only option with 64GB is 165U (this is official dealer info what can I order from Lenovo factory!), so I went different route - ordered 845 G11 with 8840U and 64GB. I was ThinkPad user (last 4 years: T14s G1 AMD, P14s G4 AMD, and at home Zenbook 14x i9), so bit sceptical, but fingers crossed. Considering my needs it seemed better choice.

I received my Yoga Slim 7 a few days ago and have sent it back. The performance is really excellent, the laptop looks great and the screen, audio and keyboard are really fantastic. But the fans run all the time and have no clear pattern. They often start up even when the laptop is doing nothing. Since I need the laptop mainly for office work, I don't need the enormous power, but a laptop that doesn't bother me even in a quiet office. So I now bought a Thinkbook 13x Gen 4, which is much quieter and covers all my needs. What a shame, because the price of the Slim 7 is really unbeatable.

Strange as I use mine as a daily driver (6 mths+) and they hardly ever come on. I like it quiet as well. If the bottom vent is covered (e.g. duvet, cushion) the fans will kick in. *Funny, waiting on Lenovo to send me the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 for review.

What is the refresh rate of the G10 screen? Why would you not mention the refresh rate?

a) It's normally 60 Hz unless otherwise and b) HP are rubbish with publishing their display refresh rate specs for their laptops.

Looking for the Thinkbook 14 gen 6 + with TGX port review with no dGPU. It has a larger battery and the Oculink port for eGPU connection using Windows or Linux. Would you mind sharing the artist of your wallpapers? I think their deserve some credit and new customers.
