I'm sad to say this but Midway's last years were a (questionable) failure. She was built to support and operate aircraft of the 1940's and '50's. She was modified to operate aircraft of the 60's, 70's, 80's, & '90's and did well. She was modified again (1990's) to operate F/A-18 which was a limited success. Additional weight at the 03 level required additional bouyancy at/below the waterline. It all sorta worked but left her rolly in moderate to heavy weather. She is a legendary ship and I am proud to have sailed in her in several oceans including the Pacific, Indian and (I'm not sure of this) Southern. We were close but I'm not sure we made it that far south.
