Depends. Where are you? What are you pumping? Where are you pumping it to and from? How much of it are you pumping at a time? There are many questions that need to be answered before the proper pump can be determined, and pump size, materials of construction, special build items all greatly affect price. This might not even be the proper pump for your application.

Can we use it for cake cream pumping (bakery)
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford Жыл бұрын
Yes, this and the Graco SaniForce Drum Unloaders are both possibilities for that. However a product test is always recommended after an initial Application Data review is completed.

maintenance question: If the specialized lubricant becomes thick, almost foam like; and begins coming out of the fill hole that way; is that a sign of the inner hose needing replacement?
@springerpumps58723 жыл бұрын
Possibly - check to see if there is pumped product in the lube.

@@springerpumps5872 Ok thanks. It's possible, hoses haven't been replaced in may 4years. We run a magnesium hydroxide slurry thru them. Is the lubricant that is used just a glycerin or more specific?
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late (very late) response. It is primarily glycerin, there is a silicon option as well. Watson-Marlow has a "proprietary" lubricant.... Have you spoken to you local rep since the comment?

A bit late to the party, but if you wanted to meter the dry peanut butter into jars how would you deal with the air pockets throughout the initial drum while priming to ensure consistent volumes? Do you vent the air as you press?
@springerpumps90734 жыл бұрын
Adam, assuming it can be pumped - we have seen nut butters so dry that we cannot pump them - we don't use the pump or a flow meter when 'air pockets are present, we use weight (mass based) filling. On the other hand you could vibrate and/or use vacuum to evacuate the air from the drum. RS

Adam, great question. There are several options to efficiently fill small containers like peanut butter jars. Can you shoot us an email so we can learn a little bit more about your application? Info at springerpumps.com

We are getting a lot of 1X RPM pulse vibration from one of these pumping sauce. So they not do well pumping against a prv or very high head?
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford4 жыл бұрын
Hi Margy, Not necessarily but we should look at all conditions, including the suction side. Please tell me suction pressure (pressure at the inlet port) and discharge pressure. If suction pressure is not known, provide the following and we'll calculate: Viscosity, vertical and horizontal distances to the pump inlet, tube piping i.d., flow rate, pump speed. If pump speed is not known tell us motor speed, reducer ratio and if controlled by a VFD the HZ when the vibrations occur. Also, do the vibrations present at all speeds when pumping all fluids? If not what conditions make it worse or better. Finally send pump nameplate so we can source a data sheet. regards, Rick [email protected]

Could you add a pressure feed back to the diaphragm so that the pump runs without pulsation at any pressure?
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford5 жыл бұрын
It's a matter of calibrating the center section pressure to discharge pressure, so the pressure sensor would have to be on the discharge of the pump, not the fluid chamber or diaphragm. With an automated air pressure valve feeding the center section and a control unit of some sort, this should be possible, within the range of the pumps low pulsation mode (about 80 psi max). There would be more to it than that, but it is theoretically possible. Definitely, something to look into if it would help with a particular application, although we have not run into a need for this setup yet.

Wowww thank you so much for this video! I was working on one of these pumps and to tell you the truth it was a little confusing for me, thank you!
How do you think these do against pressure? For example, a sand filter on the effluent side, and a swimming pool or fish pond on the influent side?
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford5 жыл бұрын
They would perform okay, but that is not the ideal application for these pumps. A centrifugal pump like an MDM Advance or Genesys that is designed for aquaculture applications such as ponds would be best: catalog.springerpumps.com/category/mdm-multi-duty-manufacturing
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford5 жыл бұрын
Also, the price point would be prohibitive to aquaculture applications. These pumps are mostly stainless steel and other expensive alloys, and ponds/aquariums generally use fiber reinforced plastics for pump components and piping.

@@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford Thanks for replying. Ok that seems to make sense. I'm currently interested in impeller designs that can convey stubborn solids like leaves and twigs through the pump to the filter media with a lower risk of entanglement or blockage inside the pump. There is the option of placing the mechanical filter before the pump instead of after, but those filter designs generally can't be back-washed as I understand.

Disconnecting the air line after charging the center section of the pump is not recommended by Graco. The pump will consume a small amount of air as it operates. Eventually, as the pump consumes air, the pressure will drop. Thus, reducing outlet fluid pressure and, eventually, stalling against the back pressure. This air consumption is increased when used in low-pulsation mode as demonstrated at 1:30. The pump requires a continuous supply of compressed air.
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford5 жыл бұрын
Although the pump does consume air, it is .02 cubic feet per day in continuous duty applications. "Continuous supply of compressed air" may be a bit strong of a statement. It is recommended that the pump be used with the optional, on board air compressor, or connected to shop air. However, in circumstances where this is not possible it can be plugged into a compressed air source once per day or as needed. Thank you for the feedback. Note: This is a video made and produce by Graco themselves.

What is it that makes the peanut butter get so dry? This happens to me with every piston filling machine i am testing
@SpringerPumpsLLCTelford6 жыл бұрын
The peanut solids settle in the bottom and the oil rises to the top. This can be countered slightly by turning the barrel upside down for a day before pumping, but it will not completely eliminate the caked peanut solids. A Graco 12:1 unit can pump even the super dense bottom layer until it pulls complete suction. There is always a small amount left over, no matter what pump you are using. If you look at around 1:28 into this video you see the bottom after no more product was able to be pumped. That residual is nothing but peanut butter solids and could not be forced into the opening of the pump. It is about .9% or less, pretty good pump performance for something that you can walk on. If you are located in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware area we can help you; Contact US www.springerpumps.com/contact.html or 866-777-6060. If you are not in our area, Graco has worldwide representation and will be able to direct you to the correct distributor for your area. www.graco.com/us/en/contact-us/ied-contact.html

The bottom of this barrel was the thickest peanut butter product we have ever pumped. As you can see in the very beginning of the video it had zero flowability and very low oil content. The 5:1 Graco Piston Pump was still able to fill a 5 gallon bucket in under two minutes and thirty seconds. This impressed even us, and we have been working with these pumps for decades.
