We had the same problem with our '91 Camaro after we had someone mess around with it for a reason I can't exactly remember. The problem was the Anti theft computer was messed up, thinking our key wasn't the right one. But hey, everyone gets different situations, lol

I don’t understand why people hate on the 2V so much. I had one as my first car it had 35k miles on it, and it put the biggest smile on my face with that V8. It’s the PERFECT beginners muscle car.

Man, you got that diff cover looking better than new! And yes, please continue to update us on this "build". I love watching late 90's 2000's American car stuff. Oh, and I assume the guy honked at you at the light because you were making a right turn and were probably stopped waiting for it to turn green, although vehicles making a right turn can go on red if they're clear. That is a pet peeve of mine and would have probably honked at you as well lol

Hey, just some useful information/tips!! Dexron VI/MerconLV ATF is backwards compatible indeed, but mostly for AUTOMATIC transmissions. Dexron VI/Mercon LV does have a thinner cold weight, so it's not as viscous as Dexron III/Mercon V. However, the synchronizers don't really like all of the additives and such in Dex VI/Merc LV ATF, since it's a lot more "slippery". You might not notice it at first, and it might shift a bit better during cold starts; but eventually, it will start feeling gritty and start "nibbling", feeling like it's almost about to grind while going into gears. I've done lots of trans fluid changes on manual gearboxes that spec ATF, and Dex VI/Merc LV or anything really that thin or thinner, will end up wearing the synchronizers; and you'll end up finding metal shavings and draining metallic fluid when you go to drain your trans fluid. I highly recommend you to stick to any multi-vehicle ATF that's "standard visocity", or any kind of GL-4 gear oil around 75w-80 (ex: Synchromesh MTF's). Dex III (GM spec)/Merc V (Ford spec), ATF+4 (Dodge spec) ATF will all work, since they're the proper viscosity and don't necessarily have the same additive package that "multi-vehicle low viscosity" ATF's have. You can also go do research on Bobistheoilguy, which is a really good information resource forum. The viscosity of ATF/MTF you want to aim for, with these gearboxes, is a minimum of 7 cst (at 100 C degrees), and a maximum of around 9 cst (at the same 100 C temp). Thicker is okay, but 10-11 cst is probably the thickest I’ve ever seen (75w-85, 75w-90); and it takes quite a while to warm up, especially if it’s not summer or if you’re in a rush. Also, a really good tip for mixing/breaking in the new gear oil for the differential with LSD additive, is to do a few figure-8's. You don't have to do it right away, but if possible, do it as soon as you can find a spot to. You will most likely find out if your diff likes that type/brand of gear oil, or if there's enough limited slip additive or not. Sometimes, diffs can be picky, and it isn't until you start really turning the car, that the gears and limited slip in it will start "chattering" or making noise (in the case that it DOESN'T like the gear oil you used). And obviously, if your diff is NOT a limited slip (LSD), then it's an open diff and it doesn't really matter at all what gear oil you use; you can even use the gear oils with LSD additive added, you just don't want to be ADDING more LSD additive to the gear oil in a non-LSD/open diff.
