If you don't like the short handle, all you would need to do is cut an old broom handle and fit it inside the handle thats on it.

Sure the humble railroad spike isn't made out of the highest grade carbon steel, but couldn't you case harden it? It would only be the outermost layer (depending on how long its in the forge) of the iron that the carbon is penetrating but that would really be all you need with a good hardening and tempering afterward to make it spring steel.

Tungsten carbide has carbon mixed in with it for additional strength.

You should really edit the hammer strikes out… Especially if you’re going to be narrating, throughout the video.

So it's rebar for hammer practice. Then use a Railroad spike for your first try at making a knife. Now if I could get a forge and an anvil I'd be happy. That shit just looks fun.

I have the twin brother to that anvil. It is in better shape and I love it. It is well used and has some life left. When the time comes, I want a bro like you to fix it! Good strong work, keeping this workhorse on the job.

Tungsten Carbide can't be forged because it's a ceramic alloy processed from powder with cobalt in a sintering oven.

I know this is going to sound absolutely absurd but when you quench have you and the tip of your knife facing magnetic north. It helps reduce warps my pops showed me that trick and it does work
