great tutorial, my daughter is going to have a ballet performance this Saturday, her hair is just the same length as yours and your video saved me indeed!

Thank you so much for this! My 3 year old daughter has short, curly hair like Shirley Temple. I was dreading her recital, but I got her hair done in like ten minutes and it looks beautiful!

I remember volunteering at my dance school to assist teaching 6 year olds, and the main teacher, to help teach a child, who was having difficulties, how to leap, she put a book on the floor to help him focus on length instead of height. But it was one single book, not a flight of stairs.

It's been a long time since this video was posted, but thank you for such a clear explanation! I had this question randomly while starting my adult ballet journey after dancing all my life, ie why don't I just do it the lazy way? And now I know!

The French Sansha FR Duval are cheaper and last for years if you are not a professional.... I am slender but not a feather like ballerina either, so they really are worth a try.

I also did that expensive experiment. I agree with you 100% on the Lyra. They pull you back. I've also realized the brand are more focused on their pro dancers needs, while providing the general public with a stock shoe that has many combination possibilities, but still doesn't work out for a majority of dancers. I was fitted in the GM boutique and still was sent home with shoes that didn't work, with the promise of the fit will get better once ribbons and elastics were on. They did not. Then CS was very weird about my inquiry once the box liners started to peel badly. Was told this not due to fault product, but wrong fit. But they fit me! Very turned off to the brand now, unfortunately.

Thats so sad to hear :( I also sadly just never went back to them after being in them for so long. I loved how they lasted but I also realized that it wasn’t worth it.

Thank you, I have similar feet and just got the Smart pointe so I was curious about the difference. On the fitting they felt best but I haven't danced on them yet so I'm nervous. As I said, pretty similar feet, and I've been on 2007 so far. Always felt the fit wasn't the best for me, but I got used to them and the type of glue and breaking in, so a bit nervous about the new kind even though they felt more comfortable and easier to stand on from the start.... Guess we'll see in time

i wear the victory flex! the box fits my square, wide feet with mostly even toes very well. i do sink a bit when i get warm, because i become ultra compressive, but that happens in every shoe. at least in the victory, i find that the wings support me enough that my big toe doesn't take the brunt of the weight. they can be a lovely shoe on the right foot shape!
@dancebylina4 ай бұрын
Ohhh i will go and try them out next time too! Thank you for the comment and the tip 🤍🤍🤍

i have the exact same issue and i know many others who do as well :') my american sleek fit was so perfect in box shape and shank support/strength. as soon as i tried the europa when it first came out, i was so held back, even in softer shanks and low vamp. i've been trying to troubleshoot with GM fitters since and it's been a lot of trial and error (and money ;~;). i love how long synthetic shoes last, because my feet tend to kill shoes quickly, but i just do not like the new shape of the gaynor models compared to the american ones D;
@dancebylina4 ай бұрын
Same sentiments 😢 i wonder if we can ever figure them out and find the best solution to these new GM problems. I still love them and how they last but since the shift it’s just been hard and so many people cannot wear them anymore 😢😢😢
@lilygardner40354 ай бұрын
@@dancebylinaexactly 😭 even if we find a semi-comfortable fit in the new styles, it still isn’t quite the same as the old ones. i’ve found duvals fit similarly to the american ones, but they aren’t as comfortable/supportive as GMs 😭

I think its because when you start dancing you start on count one so the instructor saying 1234 would be like the dancer starting on count 5 which would be confusing. Just my thoughts and hope that makes sense!

Good question, quite honestly I only wash my shoes once every month. But they do seem to last at least 1-2 years even teaching everyday. I just rotate around 2-3 pairs. Hope this helps!

They have a liquid version. No aerosols. I used to squirt a bit into the shoe and move it around where I needed it to soak in. I also knew some dancers that would use a paintbrush to coat the liquid where needed. Definitely open a window at least when doing this, even with non aerosol versions! I would not use this on non traditional shoes as it will make the inside lining hard and rough.

With your ballet background, it’s actually an advantage except maybe spinning because skaters don’t spot like dancers? 😅

I love Japanese food too. Honestly i believe eating everything in moderation and having a balance diet . I have a lot to learn. Oftentimes i feel guilty when treating myself but then burning calories after what i ate but as an adult dancer i realize it's okay to treat yourself every once in a while.
