You could've saved yourself a lot of time by tying off the new cable to the bottom of the old and let it guide the new cable through. Also, wd40 isn't the best lubricant for cables. They make actual cable lube

Thank you for this video, the task no longer seems so daunting. I have a (used) 2010 GZ250. I'm having trouble getting it into neutral both from first or second gear. It appears that my chain is loose. Do you think this is thee main' only reason, or can it be something else?

The inner sleeve of modern cables is made of teflon, to reduce friction. Usually, is not a good idea to apply WD40 to teflon, because it contains some solvents which can be aggressive on teflon and damage it. Maybe, a solvent-less lubricant such as the good ol' Motul MC Care P4 E. Z. Lube, or the WD40 Silicone Lubricant, is preferable. Anyway, super video! 😀👍

Did you have clutch slipping after this I do I changed clutch plates and followed your video I can't get it right
@arlenburroughs50142 ай бұрын
Is there not enough movement before you feel "weight" of the clutch lever? I would try adjusting it so there is 3-4 "quarters" room before you feel clutch weight just to be sure the slipping isn't related to your cable

I bought a Vulcan 900 Custom with the same pipes... Got to ride it once before having to put it away for the winter months. In person, the sound is on a whole other level. Has a real nice bark to it when you stab the throttle and the overrun... oh man.

Hi Arlen. Brand new rider as of July 24, 2023. 2002 Vulcan bobber. Clutch cable snapped on the road but was able to get home. With your video, I was able to replace the cable Sat night and was riding the next day. Thank you so much for saving me time and money. I’m officially a grease monkey and I love it! Thanks again!

It was the cam timing chain guide plastic that breaks down and falls apart, causing this noise. I watched a handful of KZfaq videos and replaced the left bank cam chain, guide and sprockets myself WITHOUT pulling the motor. If the sound is coming from the right bank (passenger side) then you need to pull the motor to replace it. The job took me probably 20+ hours of labor, but the dealer quoted me $4k to pull the motor and replace both.

-- Cant get mine to run. It has spark. Removed the carb, cleaned all the jets. Tested the kickstand circuit, fresh battery (charging system works), good fuel. Problem is the same as before. It'll run for a few seconds with starting fluid, but barely on fuel. Air fuel mixture screw I've set several different ways. Fuel from the tank is getting to the carb, again I cleaned the jets (see right through them and the float bowl) have spark, adjusted idle. Seems to only chance it has to run for a few seconds is on choke. New plug, oil, filter, air filter. Suzuki GZ250, 2002. I'm at the end of my rope. Anyone have any ideas?

Me too on a 04, you figure it out?
@MarkJacksonGaming11 ай бұрын
@@feralcatify -- Not yet, otherwise I'd share. Adjusting air fuel didn't work, new jets didn't work. Compression is good. I stink with carbs. Been learning since then on little 'throwaway' ones. Still waiting to take the bike to the dealer. 8-9 week wait period. Whatever it is, it's beyond anything I've ever seen no KZfaq university.

-- Yeah. I made sure. I never figured out was wrong. Finally just learned how to rebuild it. New floats, jets, adjustment screws, and all the rest. Runs fine now, but what the problem actually was, I'll never know :) @@Crvstylvngs

Thank thousand for the beautiful and helpful video! Since I'm looking for this tiny cruiser, I'm interested in the reliability of the GZ. On some GZ250s I have seen a valve located behind the horn. Somewhere I read that it is the "valve air control", but not all GZ single cylinders have it. What is the function of this valve? Could this valve be critical to reliability? Does your GZ have it? Thanks so much for Your patience!
