Is playing on keyboard recommended over gamepad? I wouldn't say so necessarily, use whichever controller you're more comfortable with. Many people will die on the hill of fight-stick being the best of all, but I would try using one before buying it. Is learning proper combos more important than spamming games? EHHHHH, it's really a mix of both. There's things you learn by understanding inputs and combos and you certainly want to have a few BnBs under your belt in order to win games faster, but you'll also have to play games in order to understand how real players play the game in order to gain the experience to understand the broader flow of the game. Do both, but try to go into each game or practice mode with a goal in mind, improvement happens a lot faster if you're an active participant in the process. Would people be willing to teach new players how to play the game in practice? People on the hisouten discord are usually pretty willing to answer questions people have, but if your question is more or less "help i suck how do i get better" then that's not much to work with. Asking specific questions or even supplying a replay file and pointing to a specific spot that felt really confusing to deal with makes for a much more worthwhile answer.
