Lol. I was a New England boarding school student in the 70s and I say bits and pieces reigned as preppy. Dock or topsider shoes. Fair Isle sweaters over turtlenecks. Straight leg jeans. Never pink and green or plaid nonsense.

I worked for Laura Ashley in the 80s the fabric was printed in house in Carno, a lot of the designs were inspired from the inside of old books and were over 100 years old so no copyright problems . I personally think the decline of Laura Ashley started when they floated the company which was the same time that she sadly died .

It would be great to get your updated take on this topic, now that quiet luxury has run its most recent course. Of course, its appeal will never completely fade, as it is anchored in the timelessness and indispensability of the aesthetic. However, the authenticity of the "old money" fantasy lifestyle imagery and scenography that drives the aspirational and acquisitional impulses among the masses, is a phenomena to be approached with discretion. As explained well in this segment from the Parisian Gentlemen true old money classes (at least here in the US with our depraved sense of true aristocracy) shun anything which is obviously trying to make a statement or draw attention. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMymgtyjxN7Yg3U.htmlsi=Zl_zpReLuDyK_dr_

Thank you so much! I just got new orthotics and they're a little thicker than my old ones, so I was worried I'd have to buy new shoes. You're a genius.

I would be intrested to know how is the fabric of your dresd compare to a Laura Ashley vintage one ? The vintage LA I have are sewn in high quality coton that is very soft and finely weaven. I dont see any fabric like that nowadays appart from Liberty wich is made in Italy mills.

Awesome thank you! Going to raid the cupboard tomorrow and make something for my boy. Not super cold in Australia compared to other countries but he's a fussy spoilt baby that doesn't like to go out of a night when it's chilly in winter without a coat on lol

Love this,, sadly it all ended when she passed. 😌 As a 56 yr old I remember everything, including its last days in Australia in 2018, I believe it's back in 2022, but unfortunately it's not the same or as popular by demand sadly 😞, but im in love with it all.

The description from Ralph Lauren is confusing, but the original flag flown over fort mchenry was restored in 1998, and Ralph Lauren donated a significant amount to that restoration of the historical artifact. Hopefully that makes sense and is an interesting tidbit of American history for you. Always cool to see people embracing our flag across cultures, great video!

Love the turtle neck with the skirt look the most! So girly and pretty! The shoes look great with all three outfits. I wish there is a store near by carrying these sarah flint shoes so i can try on before deciding to buy them as they are quite pricy. I hate the hassle of returning stuff.

Ugh I hate having to return stuff too! Such a pain… I will say that the sizing information they have on their website is much more detailed and accurate than most sites I’ve shopped on - I was able to order the correct size 😊

Kinda going along with this, but when I lived in Monterey California for a brief period, I remember there was a clothing boutique that was obviously geared to women aged 60-80. From the window display i thought "what grandma looking clothes". Then for fun i tried on a bunch of said outfits, and to my amazement I legitimate felt like Mia Thermopolis in PD2 when she starts dressing classy casual. I think the older generations are onto something. Just saying to anyone reading this - give it a try

i also love the oversized blazer look & often times struggle with whether to remove or keep the giant shoulder pads that usually come with thrifted blazers - how do you know if removing shoulder pads would destroy the overall look of the blazer? and have you had any experience replacing big/fat shoulder pads with smaller/thinner ones?

In my mind, it looks like some old white guy(s?) came in and couldn’t get on board with doing anything differently than the way they have been running shit for the last 100 yrs so of course they pushed her out. Whether she was partly to blame for them not getting along is a separate issue, I think, although I’m 100% sure their (old, white businessmen) absolute certainty about their innate superiority and ability to ‘corner the market’ on success would definitely be incredibly grating to have to deal with every day. I was also about to buy some items from OV, but this information has led me to change my mind. However, I would really like to find a similar store to try buying some stuff, if anyone has any suggestions? Again, preferably a female-founded/led company, with good quality fabrics/products. Is there such a thing?

HM the Queen…..employed a woman whose sole duty was to hand wash her underwear…….also, although her shoes were bespoke, a member of her indoor staff of a similar shoe size wore in her shoes on carpeted floors for a couple of months prior to the Queen wearing them.
