My Black Jack keeps playing Twilight Zone music and won't play. Could the coins be jammed in the machine causing this? If so, how do I remove them to get the machine working again. I can't seem to find anyone that works on these machines in my area of MA. Thanks!
@pin-monkeypinball35482 ай бұрын
I'm sorry for the late reply. I just saw this. Usually it will play that tune if the hopper runs real low on tokens. This usually happens after the Jackpot modes. The game needs to keep a few hundred tokens in it. There is a small key on the control box inside near the power switch. I believe you turn the key to reset the game with the power on, then turn the key back and turn the game off then back on again. I sold this game the day after I posted the video so I don't have the owners manual anymore but I can look it up if need be. Hopefully this helps or you got it fixed before I got back to you. Thanks for watching!

Any idea why my Cleopatra chimes are only working when I start a game or add credits? It’s the SS version.
@pin-monkeypinball35485 ай бұрын
This is a Gottlieb System 1 (Their first attempt at solid state games as they were reluctant to break away from their popularity in EM games) So, the sounds in these are driven by the solenoid driver board. We know that the chimes are working when starting or adding credits, that tells us that the drivers are working. I would start by turning off the game and opening the backbox. You will see 3 sets of 8 dip switches in a row (total 24 switches). On switch 20, it will be on the last of the 3 sets and marked with a 4. Sorry, I'm trying to word this without being confusing. That switch should be on. This is the "chimes on with scoring" setting. Once you turn that on, turn the game on and try it. It's best to not flip any of those switches with the game on. If you still have problems, feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can work through it. Thanks for watching!

i have a 1967 Wlliams Touchdown pinball machine and i bought my rubber rings from Marco Pinball. Do i have to unscrew all the plastic tops in order to replace the rings? The rubber rings, I don't think, have ever been changed...one of them has already been broken off.
@pin-monkeypinball35486 ай бұрын
Yes, unfortunately on most objects you will have to unscrew everything except for a rubber here and there. It's OK. It's an opportunity to clean and inspect everything, clean switches that come through the playfield and replace bulbs. Clean up the plastics. While you're at it, replace the ball as well. It seems like a pain and sometimes it's scary the first time or 2 but you'll gain confidence. The reward is worth it. Even if you've had the game for years, it'll look and feel like a new game again. @pin-monkeypinball35482 ай бұрын
I apologize. I don't know why I'm just now seeing this. Yes the machine gunning flipper most of the time is caused by a misadjusted EOS or End Of Stroke switch on the flipper assembly under the playfield. The coil that works the flipper is technically 2 coils in 1, a larger diameter wire but short winding to provide power to hit the ball. Then there is a smaller diameter wire with a bunch more windings to provide more resistance with low current in order to allow you to hold the button on without burning up the coil. Look underneath where the flipper comes through. Manually work the flipper by hand and compare it to your other side. You'll see that towards the end of the stroke (plunger pulling all the way into the coil) that the pawl opens a switch. You want this to open juuuussst before the plunger is fully into the coil. If it's opening too soon the flipper gets weak and will bounce and that's what you're seeing. Hope this helps if you haven't fixed it already. Feel free to message back if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!

I just picked up a scale like yours. I think the woodgrain paint is a factory job as mine is exactly like it. Mine seems to be missing the rod that hooks into hydraulic cylinder.
@pin-monkeypinball3548 Жыл бұрын
Since the video, I believe it is factory mostly based upon how the stickers were placed afterwards and doesn't look like any other base coat underneath. You can still get the parts. If you unscrew the dashpot (hydraulic cylinder) there should be a piston and rod assembly in there. That rod pokes out of the top of the cylinder. Piston and shaft part number is WMTTF84. Thanks for watching. I have a pile of new videos coming out. Just recording them in batches.

@pin-monkeypinball3548 Жыл бұрын
I would start by making sure the contacts at the buttons are clean. Then make sure your end of stroke switch is correctly adjusted. What machine is it?
@MattM-xc4gs Жыл бұрын
It's an Eight Ball machine. I'm sure these flipper assemblies are original. I was thinking of replacing but will try your ideas first. I can't thank you enough for the advice. I love this machine!
@pin-monkeypinball3548 Жыл бұрын
Keep me posted. Rebuilding them can only help the machine. The coils do get weak, or more or less slow down due to misadjusted switches and dirty or warped coil sleeves. Also, the coil stops (the bottom part that the coil sits on) there is a plunger stopper in there that tend to get mushroomed over time from being constantly slammed into. This will sometimes create a seal inside the coil sleeve where air gets trapped and the plunger wastes energy and momentum trying to compress the air. The rebuild kits are cheap and if you got new coils they're about $10 each. But you'll notice the difference.
