I've noticed a running theme in the horror of Red Candle Studio's games: Guilt In Detention, iirc it's about the guilt the main character harbors for basically being a snitch, which led to the deaths of her classmates and teacher In Devotion, it's about a father whose guilt is of him failing as a father, which led to the death of his daughter Then we have Nine Sols in which we have Lady Ethereal racked with guilt from failing her people in her quest of helping them This probably doesn't mean anything, but it's still an interesting detail i've noticed of this studio lol

When she found what she was looking for, she tested her cure on her solarians......only for her dreams to turn into hell....They were uncapable of dying, but their bodies began to mutate and decay, and they slowly lost their sanity one after the other, like becoming victims to a cruel experiment. The infected would kill and create new victims, to where it became deadly to all solarians in Penglai, like a population decreasing from death. Even Heng, Yi's younger sister was infected with this sickness. It became known as the Tianhou Virus. The Ten Sols did their best to evacuate and fled to New Kunlun, where it would be safe and the sickness would not occur. Using their knowledge, they planned to treat the infected through the Eternal Cauldron project and Vital Sanctums, where they hibernated to reduce the stages and risks of infection. Meanwhile, their source of food came from the Apemen from the Pale Blue Planet, killing them one by one to satisfy the hunger and needs for survival. Eigong told everyone to keep the Tianhou Virus and her research unknown to the public, for it would cause rage, betrayal, and revolution against their saviors. She lied to and fooled everyone. Even when Yi was unable to expose her sins, she needed to keep the truth hidden, and she needed to keep going, in order to find her cure for her creation. She made mistakes, sacrifices, and choices that were beyond irredeemable. Yi was like that, but unlike his mentor, he learns from his regrets, he grows softer, and begins to understand the true meaning of Justice. And through his dying breath, he ended the suffering of his people and family. Sometimes, just believing immortality and science can solve the world's biggest problems don't come easily. We live in world where life gives us all the joy and challenges and struggles we face, and when we meet our end, Death's arms embrace you while you rest from your hard days of work. Accepting mortality is never simple, but being alive forever is more difficult. You lose your loved ones and suffer the endless days of loneliness, where only you can meet them again if you embrace death. And, just like Eigong and Yi, our desires can cause bad things to happen without even realizing it. We've all have been selfish, and cold. But you don't have to be like that forever. You have a right to be better, and you have a choice to become the new and better you, one that everyone will love and embrace.

Watching this ending I ended up thinking in a short comic. Frame 1 and 2 Someone is in the verge of death is surronded by his family and dies in peace (There is a cat that looks like Yi in the background) Frame 3 and 4 A old man is walking on a path in a white flower field. Frame 5 and 6 Then he starts to talk like he was writing a message to someone from long ago. He tells how was his life and what he's been doing until his inevitable death of old age and his return to the tao. Frame 7 and 8 He starts talking about the time when he was a kid, and he tells how it was when Kuafu passed away because of Tianhuo, then Shennong of old age, and he asks how is everyone doing while he wasnt there, at this moment the old man begins to get younger and younger. Frame 9 Then it's revealed that the old man is Shuanshuan and he is on his path to the afterlife, the wind blows and shakes his hair while he is looking something far away. Frame 10 He is a little younger now and can walk without his cane, after realize that he can run now Shuanshuan starts running without any rest. Frame 11, 12 and 13 It's hard in the beginning but step by step it's getting easier, and he seens to be saying something, calling for someone while he continues his message. Frame 14 and 16 Someone who is holding a green pipe blowing green smoke can be seen by distance, he is talking with his sister and Shuanshuan parents. Frame 17 and 18 From far away Yi can hear the words "YI!!" and "BIG BROTHER!!". Kuafu then calls Yi then he points to Shuanshuan Frame 19 Yi is with his family and the friends he met during his journey and they were waiting for Shuanshuan to start a banquet to welcome him (Chien and Shanhai 9000 are there too). Frame 20 and 21 Now Shuanshuan still running until return to child again, even exausted he wont stop running, getting close to them he can see his parents alongside Yi, Kuafu, abacus, Shennong and everyone. Frame 22, 23 and 24 They are happy to see each other again, Everyone is having fun. THE END Now I don't know what each one could do in this last painel, so lets leave this to your imagination I hope someone with artistc skills will see this comment

to be honest, fuxi and nuwa seems to be the most useless sols among the council...they do literally nothing that could justify them being on the council unlike the other sols other than being nobility. they were tragic as hell but still, what went through eigong's brain that she thought these two would make good sols?

I realized she never used the move where she throws you up and use a red attack, the one where she doesn't slash you back down. Is it intentionally removed to make the fight possible or are you just that lucky?

I only truly discovered the real power of the jade that causes internal damage to the enemy on perfect parries during the final, final boss of the true ending. I so deeply wish I had found it earlier...
