I just found a way to do it without taking damage... Use the tunnels leading up to the encounter as a choke point, slightly before where the ghosts spawn. I'm a lich so I used my skeletal warrior to trigger the encounter... a pet obviously would also work. It may take a try or 2. But have the ghosts block the choke point so that the playful darkness can't get to your tank or tanks. Make sure you turn off your party's AI and have them on hold position or they'll try to kill the ghosts. The ghosts don't deal damage they only seem to drain levels, so make sure your tank is protected. Fill the tunnel slightly behind the ghosts with the pillar of life spell. The playful darkness can't get to your party and the ghosts cant hurt your tank... while the pillar of life spells will kill the playful darkness. It was honestly so effective I didn't even notice the playful darkness die because he was invisible. It took 2 pillar of life spells to fill the area behind the ghosts and by the time they had run their course... it was dead. Then you just enjoy the 50k exp and all its lovely loot.

@Imp Salazarth Less than half of regular AC is an improvement...especially with something like a Magus or Arcane Trickster on your team.

On Hard there are enemies with 53-57 AC, but this abomination has 82.

Consider that in Gothic 1 spells have very low costs

and if you only tab the cast button, the spell is often just free. firestorm and firefall can be cast for 0 mana and still do decent damage to most enemies.

Gothic 3 wasn`t a bad game - It is real open world game without any loading screens, tons of magic and weapons. Only quest sucked - get this kill that, Piranha Bytes forgot how to create real quest that require your attention and constant thinking about what to do next. I bet they could do better but sadly they thought since first two releases was a success the third one will be fire or simply they fired a guy who was creating questlines since Risen was only about get this and kill that.

@@freespeech3817 I still think the quests were just fine for their time. But yes they could have indeed done a lot better, and not only to quests but to the amount of content and so on so forth. I think it was a bit rushed, hence the community patch.

It's cool just very rushed and underdeveloped originally; it needs some changes and polish

Tbh I'm inclined to believe the opposite. To do good as a wizard you need to know what's going to be in the next encounter, to do good as a sorc you'd have to prepare for the entire campaign cause you can't change spells without a lvlup. That was a serious problem when I played the Swordflight series of modules (which granted are high difficulty modules that limit rest heavily )

@@hazy-dreams yea, you can have pretty powerful spells but by the time you get the really fun stuff like time bubble, conjure lightning, army of darkness, and meteor, there's almost nothing left to actually use it on if you don't conciously leave things to mop them up later. they're fun in a few cities, this is definitely one of the best ones for a power trip, but the battle you'd actually need them in is liberating hammer clan's mine and you physically can't even have time bubble doing that if you don't cheat or use a speedrun strat. I love it to bits, it's the first gothic I owned and played but the pacing (both story and combat) in this game is off at best and nonexistent at worst. cp with alt AI fixes it combat wise but only for melee and that leaves a bit to be desired too as group fights are unparalleled clusterfucks.
