Basking shark … but the size isn’t getting justice from the camera … I saw an 8-foot mako off the side of a fishing boat and thought it was gigantic … these animals are pure power and their size is incredible

I will reiterate what many have already said , That Is A Basking Shark.
@jonbarrett3202 күн бұрын
Not "giant"at all. That's a small-to-average sized basking shark. No teeth, filter feeder. Totally harmless.

4:58 that's my dad and I on land there. He caught himself a flounder that was a little over 18.5 inches. Made his day! We had to settle for fishing from shore for few hours after our boat had some issues but it worked out in the end.

Enjoyed your video fishing with your wife, especially the tool that takes fish off the hook, gotta get one of those. I'll be coming to OC in September with my wife, she just loves to catch any type of fish. Where from land or pier is a good place to go in September to catch spot, croakers or blu fish? Thanks for your help, Jay from Latrobe, Pa.
@FishinOC6 күн бұрын
You can catch spot, croaker etc from lots of spots. Oceanic Pier is a great spot for those and more.
@v.hillegass43516 күн бұрын
As long as you clip/cut the hooks off the additional Sabiki rig is that legal? Leaving the others on as teasers with no hooks if you get what I am saying?? Or do you have to remove them completely.?
@FishinOC6 күн бұрын
As long as there are only two hooks you’re good.

You catching that Mahi made me think about a sea bass trip I took with my family aboard the Coastal Guide Service boat. My oldest son was graduating high school (he is 21 now) said, "do you think we will catch a Mahi?" I said, "buddy this isn't going to be that kind of trip. But we will catch fish." We went out around the sea bass pots and wouldn't you know it a nice Mahi was circling one of the pot buoys. The captain had a pin fish rigged ready to go and flipped it out. He hooked it and said, "who wants it?" Without hesitation I said, " Give it to him!!" He battled it for 15-20 min. all around the boat and ultimately landed it! I will never forget that trip and I hope he doesn't either! Pretty work guys. Great video.
