South africa does the same. Cooking kills most dangerous bacteria, and those that cooking doesn't kill get on the meat by unusual circumstances.

Washing meat only contaminates the cooking area and does absolutely nothing, cook the meat to the proper temp and it kills bacteria. I mean it’s almost as if you cook things like chicken long enough you won’t get salmonella, and now hypothetically go wash that chicken then eat it raw, and hypothetically watch how sick you get because washing it does nothing but contaminate the cooking area.

That is disgusting. You should always wash the food you eat. There could be chemicals or bacteria or residue on the food.

Weirdly the UK and Japan seem to have a lot of the same hygiene standards when it comes to food. Nobody here washes meat, we just dump it from the pack right onto the tray. And with eggs we don't worry about salmonella when we eat a little cookie dough or cake batter cause our eggs here are safe enough to eat raw. It's one thing I'm actually very thankful for having here when I hear about how Americans and such gotta be so cautious with some foods lol

To be fair bacteria can't survive some cooking temps especially since we go up to like 400ish by baking and almost if not more than 500 if we're doing other stuff

The hygiene level at malaysian local butcher at wet market is not yet at japanese level😂. Wash please. U'll refuse to eat it if you know. Sometimes it still intact with grass and 💩. But if u buy from the mall's wet section maybe it is ok. U may wash your sink area with soap after washing the meat. My dish usually will spoil earlier if I do not wash it. properly.
