What I learned was that Lucas took and studied many myth creations: Americas ( Leia had the Hopi style of hair) Jedi ( Djed of Khemet) priesthood. SITH(Seti) priests. Mystics. This lecture is good.

Bruce is always generous with his enthusiasm...personally, I am not interested in psychedelic usage, and, yet, Bruce makes many sound statements...but what happened when Ram Das gave Baba Meem Karoli LSD? Nothing...why? The answer is not so simple as upheld by Ram Das...so, this gives food for thought...

Listening to Alan Watts has transformed my perspective and overall perception of life. The final quote is simple yet profound. 59:26 “To the naive man, mountains are mountains and waters are waters. To the intermediate student, mountains are no longer mountains and waters are no longer waters. In other words they’ve all dissolved into the point of kashana. But for the fully perfected student, mountains are again mountains and waters are again waters.” They are being, they are here, they are NOW.

Awesome how Joseph breaks down Sam Harris' insanity so clearly.
@DharmaCreatureКүн бұрын
Also, just giving my 2 cents on it. I think Sam Harris is also running away from being a failure. Being a child sex predator dramatically alters one's entire personality for the worse. One's whole worldview is compromised. The ideas that one has and communicates to the world are affected. Sam Harris being a child sex predator renders his choosing to be a spiritual teacher irresponsible. Sam Harris is not qualified to be a spiritual teacher due to his *unwillingness to mitigate* the cancerous effects of his being a child sex predator driving him insane. His spiritual training emphasized the openness of consciousness basically to the exclusion of everything else, so his deeply ingrained habit energy has rendered him incapable of practicing restraint. He just lets his insanity be as it is and believes that he has no free will to choose to not be a Nazi. Because he has spent most of his life practicing an incomplete dharma path, he is unequipped to competently navigate his descent into madness. He fears being perceived as inherently incapable of being a spiritual teacher due to being a child sex predator so he renders himself a complete and utter failure as a spiritual teacher by being a Nazi lunatic? It's like he fears being fired from his job because of the intrinsically bad nature of his personality, so he says fuck you I quit? During this ordeal I have found myself unlearning what Sam Harris has taught me, maybe Sam Harris anticipated and feared this and is running away from being inherently unqualified to be a spiritual teacher? It is actually quite common for people to seek enlightenment as a means to end their suffering after having committed some sex crime, but Sam Harris found the dzogchen way, and this is an unfortunate and dangerous combination of factors apparently. Sam Harris is trying to convince people that Nazi Sam is Sam's ideal version of himself so it's not a stretch to consider that Sam believes he's inherently incapable, unworthy and unqualified.
