I could listen and watch you all day ! I sure could use this modification on my gasser. Car was built in late 1960s, 1/8 mile English Ford Anglia... some good old boys built this car with what they had in the shop back then.. so things need upgrading. my straight axle can actually tap my oil pan on a major bump in road going 50 mph. I like your mod upgrade alot, its brilliant 👏 thankyou for sharing your knowledge!! Im a rookie when it comes to custom mods but willing to learn... ps you are very talented, beautiful equiptment,and your explanation on things are very thorough. You have my follow - sorry for rant

All that and never cleaned the needle and seat under the float -one of the main issues that plug or stick

I ended up doing just that when it did not start the first time. The reason it did not start was the pin that holds the float was not in straight.

Why on earth would you NOT make the mount REMOVABLE? And install some sort of flexible cushion to make the engine less rigid for a smooth vibration-free operation?

Just serviced my EU about a month ago. Battery died about 15 years ago. My gen is in an aluminum enclosure on my car hauler race trailer. used the pull start as I was too lazy to pull the case apart. After sitting all winter it would not start. It took me 2 hours to take the compartment apart since the torks screws stripped. My buddy serviced it, runs great now. At the time I did not know the battery was so accessible.

What shop built your radiator for you? Like the use of WD-40 to help slide the hose ends on! What are you using for gas? Sunoco 93?
@ThrottleStopRacing25 күн бұрын
I went to Empire Radiator for the radiator (they took a long time). That is not DW40 but window cleaner. Just enough soap to let the hoses slide on. You hit the nail on the head, there is a Sunoco right down the street. Have a good 4th

How important is it to set the shift cable length with it in neutral? I bought an unfinished project off a guy. 2004 Sierra with th400 swap. Originally I couldn’t get it to engagePark. I set the cable length by using park on both the trans and shifter, but now, I don’t seem to have a neutral position on the shifter that give me neutral on the trans. Could setting my cable ship in park be the issue? (Just happened earlier today, so I haven’t tried resetting the cable length yet). Thanks to anyone that can provide any info on that. Great vid too!
@ThrottleStopRacingАй бұрын
I would think that it was very important. If the shift cable shifter and trans lever all be in park and your cable length set that way, the other end of the range (first or third) could be out of range???

Thanks for the information. It wasn't the solution for mine, but it helped troubleshoot it. My unit would light but would then shut off after a bit of time. Indicating a thermocouple. Checked voltage when unit was lit, only got .009 to ,011 volts (or 9 millivolts) from the thermocouple. Just for giggles I also let a long Bic lighter under the thermocouple, the voltage went to 25mv. Checked thermocouple mounting, it was loose, apparently allowed the Thermocouple to slide away from the flame. Adjusted and locked down. All is fine. btw my unit is a Dometic RM2807 in a 1995 Southwind.

Optima batteries require an optima charger, but they don't tell you that because they cost $400. I have lost a few of their batteries because of this, but the 1000cca battery is $400 so I just spent the money and their charger is fast and made for their batteries, plus it's lighter and safer with the charger sitting in the trailer. We also prefer the yellow top battery for rapid discharge and charging just some things I have learned the hard way, as hard as it is to justify $800 for a battery and charger it's still cheaper than buying them twice. No at all knocking your set up just hope to help anyone watching because a dead battery at the track is no fun after all the hard work.
