The states are greedy and are changing the amount they are taking so Draftkings had to change to offset what the states are doing. Blame the states, not the company.

Andy is bananas for thinking Olympic gold would be better to win than a PGA. You get $4mm for winning, 5 year exemption into every major, immediate class bump for mid level tour pros, elevated events etc. Scottie doesn’t get shit for winning

Andy, my bet is that the course giving him a hard time about the greens fees was Tamarack. That is another Pete Dye Course that is always in terrible shape and more likely to do something like that. Not saying it couldn’t be Ruffled Feathers, but I would expect that to be in better shape and have better people. I’d bet nearly anything it is Tamarack.

Andy - Race walking has been an Olympic sport in every Olympic Games since 1904, with the exception of the 1924 Games. What differentiates race walking from running or jogging are 2 rules that require race walkers to: (1) keep one foot in contact with the ground at all times and (2) the supporting leg must straighten from the point of contact with the ground and remain straightened until the body passes directly over it. Despite your contention otherwise, race walking is very much an athletic endeavor with world-class race walkers averaging under 4 minutes per kilometer over a 20km race. In the Paris Olympics there is a 20km race walk for both men and women and a 50km mixed race walk in which men & women alternate 10km stages over the 50km race. Andy - It is ironic that you are railing against race walking not being athletic enough to be in the Olympics when there is a large segment in the athletic world that don’t consider golf an athletic sport, but rather a game.

Jim Furyk the same as Scott MCCarron...he looked unbeatable on the Champions Tour at first...then he suffered a back injury and now he can't drive the ball 240 yds and isn't relevant. This is what makes Langer's career incredible.

Theoretical Topic for you guys to mull about in the future as I have been thinking about this for a couple years and am kinda surprised that nobody ever broaches the topic. Starting Strokes is a dumb idea and makes the TOUR Championship kind of a bore to watch when you know 20-25 players are out of the mix before it starts. My proposal is as such, they call it the Playoffs, so why not make it a real playoff? Turn the TOUR Championship into a Match Play Event, you can add 2 players to the field to make it a full 32 player bracket or stick with the traditional 30 players and the Top 2 in Points get a 1st Round Bye. Thursday - Round of 30/32 Friday - Round of 16 Moving Day - Quarters in the Morning and Semis in the Afternoon Sunday - 7th place, 5th place, 3rd place and Finals Matches With this you're not only playing the entire season to make it to the TOUR Championship, you're playing for seeding, Sunday at the BMW becomes all about who is going to make it into the field, who they're going up against and setting the stage for the playoffs, win or go home if you want the FedEx Cup. Thank you for reading my TED Talk.

To make a comparison, in tennis they play on different surfaces, hard court, clay, grass, under different conditions, out in the open, under a stadium roof and they play all over the world, they don’t complain. At Troon they got the 4 seasons in one day ! 😀

Great summary guys. I have been to so many great Opens including the classic Nicklaus/Watson showdown and it has always been my favourite Championship. Especially great to watch it in Europe and or South Africa etc where the TV coverage is so much better than the USA with far far less adverts . Look forward to your comments on the Open next year. Cheers Keith

Scottie has only struggled on greens this year where the greens were slightly different and threw him off. Colonial, the greens super firm and hard to read (2nd), Pinehurst greens were definitely complex and vexing for him, and the Open greens were very slow and clearly he had trouble with the reads. I think on a course where he's more comfortable with the greens he'll separate himself as long as his ball striking continues at this level. Oakmont and Quail Hollow are favorable for him next year but they are for a lot of other big dogs too.

Enjoyable listen… recently found you. As a Brit, it does still make me smile however, that you view our/European golf as somewhat of a novelty. You hit on some great key points, in particular the bias towards formulaic PGA bomb and gouge style of play, which has its place no question, however, is only one real avenue of golf. I’ve been lucky to play the game across a few continents in my time, and enjoyed the diversity of Royal Cinque Ports to Royal Melbourne and pretty much everything in between. (Including the US) Unfortunately, what we saw this week was how many players’ weaknesses are exposed when they experience the full examination paper of Links golf in changeable conditions…. Very few have what that takes. We now live in a professional world of Trackman, GC QUAD and pristinely presented courses where players (certainly Stateside) head for the clubhouse when rain falls. No wonder these players bitch and moan or were simply bamboozled by Troon these past few days. No simple answer from me, but if you really want to find the best golfers worldwide, they have to play worldwide…. And in all conditions. Final thought re majors….. the US PGA should switch to Australia and be played late in the year. The like of Royal Melbourne or Kingston Heath would be perfect venues.

WHat comes next? If he follows the script of most dominant players, after his first bum result he’ll look for reasons why and start on the journey of remodelling his swing until, after a couple of years of mediocrity he’ll go back to what won and win again… From Faldo to Hovland it’s been the case. Thoughts?

Hello- new subscriber. Thank you Hope # 15 at The Kankakee Elks golf course has a more subdued volcano hole. The Elks was built in 1926 by the noted Golden Age team of Langford & Moreau. Rumor has it prior to 1915, AG Spaulding of Chicago possibly hired Tom Bendelow to design Eagle Springs, as Bendelow was Spaulding’s top architect at the time but Spalding died before completion in 1915. Such an irony. It is possible Langford & Moreau or even CB McDonald from Chicago Golf Club was involved back in 1893 or 1921 when expansion redesign took place. It’s a thrill to see and play.

Awww how can you pick on the Rai guy? Thanks to your FEG episode with Andrew Cotter I checked out The Chipping Forecast. I think it was his group that shared why ARai uses the club covers, and it might hit you right in the feels. It's his reminder of how much his parents scrapped to help him get his clubs as a youth, dad showed him how to care for them, and it's an appreciation of the value of what he has. Could be a load or could be... a nice notion. Up for each to decide.
