I'm no doctor or scientist but I think the cure to cancer is through our own immune system by getting it to identify and selectively attack cancer cells. Radiation and chemo poison the body

To help people who have damaged hands, or missing limbs. Also to augment - a surgeon for example could use an extra thumb to grasp particular tools which currently need two people to operate.

Nature: evolves the perfect limb for grasping and manipulating small and big things over millions of years 3 pounds of meat in a skull: what if we had another thumb though (though it’s still pretty cool)

I can see the uses for VR, where the input of the limb translate to movement inside VR character

Solution looking for a problem

Looks like a fun toy, but... what problem exactly is it solving? None of the objects grabbed required the extra finger. Usually in engineering we start with the *why* before we move on to the *how*.
@cambridgeuniversity2 күн бұрын
The why is for people who don't have full use of their hand. This could be due to a number of things: damage from an injury or illness, birth defect or loss.

It would be interesting to test it in tasks that are really hard with one normal hand but really easy with the 3rd thumb. Cause the testing in this video is mainly takes that can be done with a normal hand anyway. Still Great work!

I think in the use of AI it is an important principle that the consumer is made aware of the use of AI. Having been made aware of the use of AI in supplied content the consumer of AI content must have the right to decline artificial intelligence and receive human intelligence. Richard

All the senseless destruction across the world has me incredibly worried about the emissions costs of reconstruction. It is some small reassurance that people are making progress in ways to do it in a responsible manner.
