Malayalee audience has the highest standard....we rejected all the crap films that was being made from 1995 to 2010...and made hits of simpler films which had great stories in theatres which became super hits...that gave the creators to make the best of movies....where as in north india audience make a movie hit only if it is following the usual pattern of a bollywood film with dramatic action and mass movies...as kerala has the highest literacy rate and has exposure to world class cinema well before any other states in india...not the situation as the propaganda movie " Kerala story" wants to portray😊

Ott just changed the north indian perspective about movies... malayalam movies are clever scrip writing, editing, bgm n acting....they are technically way far ahead of anything in India with a stringent budget... am a malayali n we know this..malayalis were always exposed to quality content worldwide...even the State government have theatres to support the art of film making ...that's how serious the productions n malayali audience

Kamal Hassan, sridevi debuted aa child artist in Malayalam movies. It was always like this. Malayali also as a audience loved movies with good writing. They never liked superficial larger then life, always. Salil Chowdhury as a musician used to work heavily in Malayalam movies. Music too was always heavy on poetry and melody. Then, we should not forget technicians. It was always best on that. Budget can't be a restraint for a good story telling. Malayalam movies is a good example.
