For all the haters out there, I am the idiot in this video, and I agree...DO NOT USE THIS SLOPPY ARMBAR -OMAPLATA TECHNIQUE!!!...That being said, I have trained BJJ under Ralph Gracie and Kurt Osiander for the last 8 years (Since I posted this video) and see the value in the idea; so tactically I dont think this is a go to concept (Armbar-Omaplata roll-Osaekomi) if only because the rules in Judo make for alot of stalling and this sort of maneuver has a very low percentage of success from a positon that only occurs extraordinarily rarely...If it has any value that I can see, someone who incorporates dropping/flying armlocks in their Judo game might find a way to use it. But hey, if you were a 21 yr old know nothing with low self esteem and an 8th Dan Judo sensei told you, "I've never seen that before...You should put that on youtube, before someone else does", I imagine you might give it a shot. Hope it inspires a better, more sound, and more applicable technique ;-)

Why stop with the pin, keep rotating until you get the armbar (juji) with your foot on his neck.

Haha. That's how I felt, too. They really need to get some pointers from great instructors such as the Gracies. They have a video about instructing.

this looks like it could be very effective but could the sweep part work with a larger opponent?

nice move! but i think the kansetsu is easier, either way i'll teach it to my students tomorrow, it's always good to have alternatives!

I love this move. I have a variant where I do it vs. strikes and weapons and I add a wristlock too. But your pin move is new to me and I appreciate the info! Good job!

Nice technique, but definitely not new; even taking into account the order that you seem to think is new. When you have the arm with your arm that's under his leg, this is a good opportunity for a triangle.

It doesn't sound like you understand what i'm saying either, no disrespect. The omaplata is of course not new, the sweep is of course not new, and niether is the concept of osaekomi from a reverse kesa gatame. It is only the particular order of the techniques leading into the specific control gained through the final positioning of your body with your right arm and leg intertwined in the uke's legs.

Thank you for your poignant and constructive criticism of my hastily put together video. It has been a pleasure hearing from you.

I have been training and competing in BJJ for close to 4 years, I am fully aware that this sweep is very basic, that's why if you read the description, it is a new "Osaekomi" technique. The discovery was of a new and from my experience, high percentage pin.

I have never seen it before, nor has anyone I have trained with (including judokas who competed in 1954) so I figured it was new, but if it isn't I certainly wouldn't want to claim a falsity. If you can show me documentation of this technique having ever being done into this particular osaekomi technique, then I will gladly change the title.
