Amazing, love this less synthy sound. And the vocals are more like The Shangri-Las, which is a good thing.

In August they played the 1975 Reading Fest... still remember they were sensational nd' listening to this live recording confirms it... By the way...caught Third World or was Aswad couple weeks later at those Hyde Pk summer concerts.... .

Is the first song really by the Lotus Eaters, I can't find any info on the track. Not even the Keeping It Peel database lists it in the Peel sessions recorded by the band...

These versions of: 1. Contusion 2. Night & Day 3. Of One Skin 4. Open Sound 5. T.V. Stars captured The Skids at their finest. The versions of 2, 3, and 4 surpass the studio versions released on 'Scared to Dance' (original and re-issue).

These versions of: 1. Accuracy 2. Grinding Halt 3. Plastic Passion 4. Subway Song and 5. Desperate Journalism... sound like they were recorded live in the studio, with minimal overdubs, and thus have a looser feel than on 'Three Imaginary Boys'.

Ten minutes ago I scrawled along to a random on the thin red line and waited to be disappointed My first sight & sound of the Monochrome Set has reset my compass. 48years of cynicism apathy and prejudiced decision making now exploded into smithereens thanks to your endeavours. Do you know how refreshed and exciting I feel now? Another band to discover. They may ultimately fadeaway but it will be a rewarding journey. If fans read this, please feel free to direct my quest. They funk out like a pimped up Microdisney!

Friends and acquaintances that know my musical tastes seem astonished when I put The Heart Throbs in my top 10 of all time bands hint: Jethro Tull, Yes, Renaissance, and Pink Floyd are in there) but they've simply passed the test of time for me. I STILL listen to them FREQUENTLY. I recently downsized my CD collection, and put everything on digital… But I kept their entire collection. 💯 I simply love them. I've never grown tired of listening to them. And oddly I don't know very much about them at all. I love all three of their full albums they've released, even the last one, vertical smile, which some people seem disappointed in. I thought it was a masterpiece. I was in the UK a while back, and I met a guy who had seen them live in the early days. I was so jealous.

The Peel session version of Double Dare was so spot on that they couldn't replicate it for the album, so they chose to put this version on the album. Still my fav Bauhaus song.

NYC 1980. I was a 19 year old Mod. Oh God how great was Wah! Heat. Wylie: the vibe/voice/fu manchu/lyrics and Washington was a deadly combo. Their early singles and Nah=Pooh sound so amazing still in 2024.

I am always surprised that Bobby is actually a really great singer live. During this era they had a unique sound that I thought was absolutely so beguiling, so melodious, but simple and beautiful. Treasure the radio sessions they did around this time, captured on C90s.
