What aftermarket oil pump would you recommend? Aisin got discontinued.

Wow dude, that really sucks! I'm very surprised that it happened without the stiffer spring. From what I noticed after tearing into it, it seems like the internals of the DNJ pump are fine. It's just that weak brass gear they have. I know the OE pump has a brass gear, but Aisin clearly built theirs better. If only Aisin didn't discontinue the pumps

@@rebeccacarlson7839 Usually you can place it on the mounting points on your subframe/cross member. Those should be reinforced pretty well. Check somewhere around your lower control arms. Just find a spot that won't pivot. You can also have a shop repair/reinforce the pinch welds. It'll be a little pricey, but is a good option if it's worth it to you.

@@christophertk I haven't replaced it. I've been told that it's just a mesh filter and technically doesn't need to be replaced (from what I've read/been told). But it's not hard to do if you decide to tackle it. You'll just need to take the pan off, it adds an extra 10 minutes or so to this job.

@@SlothKingGarage went to do a drain and fill and turns out mine has a dipstick, on the 2003 v8 it has a A340F transmission. any chance you know where i can find the procedure for this one? 😅

@@christophertk I haven't seen a writeup on one, but also never looked too far into it. I'd assume that you'd do the drain and fill like any other vehicle with a dipstick on the transmission. (Drain, fill up to specified level in owners manual, wait for it to warm up then check the level, and adjust accordingly)

Do you need to stop the vehicle before taking off the compressor

Another good reason to not buy any refrigerant that says self sealant is most mechanic shops won't be able to fix it, they'll force you to buy a whole new AC unit setup and that can be expensive. If you're not sure if you have a leak then buy refrigerant with uv dye, and use a uv light on the hoses to check for leaks. That won't cause any issues with a mechanic shop
