Wowww, thank you!! So what was the solution? 1) replace the fan 2) get rid of dust 3) remove heat sink in motherboard and replace heat sink?? My late 2014 27" iMac keeps shutting down and 2 techs found no issues. They said maybe its the GPU :C But I want to try your solution! thank you so much!

@@CatsandCircles funny enough, my problem was a failing SSD!! 9 year old SSD...failing. I researched all over the net but found nothing stating that it could be the SSD or HDD. Low and behold, that's exactly what it was--not the GPU, not the Power supply...the SSD! I bought a SATA ssd for cheap on amazon, and opened up my iMac...but then I realized I needed extra parts to install a SATA. The SSD in my Mac was a pcei ssd (smaller than SATA). I returned the sata and got a pcei ssd (surprisingly cheaper, though they're not supposed to be!) and installed it. I ran into an issue after booting since there is no OS on the ssd, but I managed to get it working-- no more crashes! Your best bet is to take your comp to a repair place that does free diagnosis, and go from there. if you think you can do the repair yourself after for cheaper, pay them a tip and do it yourself.

Good post, after disconnecting the webcam and mic cable the fan stopped spinning full speed. However the webcam cable on my a1466 Macbook Air connected to the power board, it was not in the same place as shown in the video. I deleted apple OS on this Macbook and installed Ubuntu 22.04 LTS instead it runs much better than Mac OS and after reconnecting the webcam and mic all worked smoothly. Forget about Windows and Mac OS they just rip you off!

No. Only upgradeable ssd and wifi/bluetooth

I had the same problem after my daughter spilled water on the laptop. Apple Store wanted to replace motherboard and other bits at over $1,000 costs, I downloaded a free app to control the speed of the fan and I have been using the laptop for over 2 years with no problems at all
