What if I have a bachelors in health science of Athletic training and Rehab science, do you think insurance companies would still require me to have the ncca certification or can I go with the open book option.

I took my exam a few days ago, and I passed! I found these videos extremely informative and helpful, and after reading some comments, I had a good idea of what material would heavily be on the exam…. However, unfortunately, mine was not really on anything these videos highlight. Obviously I had a few questions related to this content, but my questions were all over the place- I didn’t have a single question on the OPT model. Nonetheless, i would recommend watching these videos- they’re great!

Love your videos! I've been a personal trainer for 16 years and I think your first point and last point are the ones I would say I wish I knew the most. My clients do NOT want complicated programs with complex exercises. This will only not only make them feel inadequate, it's just not necessary for the majority of clients who simply want to lose weight and get stronger. And to the last point, most of my clients have told me they pretty much pay me to hold them accountable first and foremost. All of these are excellent points though and I really resonated with every one. Also, love your anatomy videos. Thanks!

I found a personal trainer I'd like to train with. Great credentials. Very expensive. Filled out her questionnaire. Answered her questions. Now I'm being ignored. She sees me, but doesn't acknowledge me. I gave up on her. I'll continue on my own. It does bother me the lack of respect.

I got lucky and got a job at a small gym in a wealthy neighbourhood. It was my first formal training job and they gave me a great deal where they simply take $15 per session for 1 person and $20 when I’m training 2 people at a time. The gym is also a bit expensive ($70/month) so it weeds out people who aren’t willing/unable to invest in their fitness. As a result I get client that are typically highly motivated and able to charge a good rate of 90 to 130 an hour. I run my business with google calendar, iMessage/Gmail, and Square. You’re also definitely right about not knowing what you’re doing from a certification alone. I was already pretty good from coaching people for free for years but when I went legit I was introduced to older people that I usually wouldn’t interact with and other unique situations like training people with ASD. You need to be willing to learn and care about others. Drop your dogma and try to inspire a life of fitness for them.

Glad I’m already doing most of these. To me I believe if you truly care about the client you’ll do this stuff automatically. I have the warm up built into the training and that varies from day to day depending on the client’s readiness. But we don’t have any cooldowns unless you count the 10 minutes of talking and going over what they liked/hated about the session as a cooldown.

@@jswarmz well i bought previous month, but didn't did anything, i started preparation like a week ago, started chapter 1 but got bored of reading that big a$$ textbook, so only did this 2 videos 3-4 times both part 1 ad part 2, also study material was best, and 1-2 days before test i just gave practice tests, non proctored test, and did mcqs of sidebook they provided. Questions are similar type just give practice test over and over again and you pass

Hello, I a accidentally came across your how to start a personal training business video and when I realized you were from CT, I subscribed and liked to support your business. I live in New Haven, CT and am beginning my business as well. I started establishing web pages , a podcast, business pages, and everything else to begin my journey in the past week. I respect the hustle and grind aspect of the business and understand it is not an overnight goal, but that's what I love about it, the grind. Just want to drop some love and let you know I am following you for a lot of advice in my journey and supporting my fellow statesman. Hope you and your wife are doing well and have a great day/week/year man! 😀

I am glad to see you train people in a very similar way as I do. It's always tough to pick exercises for clients because what's hard for them night be easy and boring for me... I don't want them bored so I then try to mix up the work out and then it just gets complicated. I'm constantly reminded (with my first 5 or so clients) that what's challenging for me is nearly impossible for them 😅. So i learned to keep my workouts nice and easy, some stretches, warm up and lifts, then focus on their problem areas and then cool down. Nice and easy NASM OPT style

Hey, just watched two videos of yours, firstly I find your style good and informations accurate from my point of view, nice to watch ! I've got a question for you, A little context first : I'm not a personal trainer neither having any certificate or studies in any fitness related fields, but I'm practicing and learning quite deeply the topics for about 15 years, been advising/teaching a real lot of people on the road. I'm planning to become an online and/or in real life fitness coach, oriented on what I know the most from my experience. I'm actually learning a lot lately about more specifics informations that I myself don't truly need, such as handling people's health issues and anatomic conflicts for example. Here is the question : Do you believe a profile like myself could become a personal trainer on internet or in real life, without any certification ? Thanks to anyone that took time to read !

I plan on being a personal trainer in the next couple of months, I just want to ask that a session here in the PHILIPPINES only last about 1 hour maximum, should i follow that or is it better to make the session a bit longer by say, 15 minutes? i don't want to shortchange my clients, not unless they are in a time restriction. what do u think about this JEFF?

What do you think about just using google sheets and the built in messaging app on your phone? I’ve always just made my own sheets. Templates for a few different workout plans, templates for a few meal plans, and adjust as needed. I just use text to communicate as this is what feels most comfortable with most clients. Some of my clients have me pinned at the top of their messaging app next to their close friends and family. That feels way better to me than forcing clients to communicate with me through some app they don’t already use and may not even like or want. Yes it’s nice having many things in one place like trainerize offers, but all can essentially be done with little friction in your messaging app history if you are reasonably organized. Maybe I could give trainerize another try… I just really like the clean simplicity of sheets (made by me) and a messaging app. Someone please convince me otherwise if there is truly a better way to stay organized though, because I still feel like my system is far from perfect
