I wasn’t born in the 1950’s but my mother and several others in my family told me the bayou was crystal clear. The bayou is STILL. full of catfish too! I fish it all of the time. Better keep your hook off the bottom!

Can I put blue crabs in my property pond? Is there anywhere I can find out how to do that? How deep can the pond be? I grew up in Buras Louisiana Plaquemines parish. I’m very familiar with blue crabs. When we caught busters in our nets my Dad gave them to his friend that grew soft shell crabs. I would love to grow blue crabs. I’m not really worried about soft shell crabs.

With all those steps and equipment each soft shell would cost about $200 each😱

How does one get to learn about the process to start a crab farming business? Are there any training programs for new professionals. Thank you !!!
@MSALSeaGrant
@MSALSeaGrant 9 ай бұрын
Hi! There aren't any training programs that we know of. But, we suggest contacting one of the people listed at the beginning of the video (Harriet Perry, Ben Posadas, Sam Thomas, David Cerino, Eric Herbst or David Eggleston) if you'd like to discuss crab farming!

Clean and put in shell back just like I do! But you don't do the legs and they have meat too.

If you aren't needing commercial crab meat for your recipe a better social way to pick a Maryland steamed crab. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLuim9yWyrLbgmQ.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aNljhpplmtOVcXU.html Save the seasoned encrusted top shell. Retain the mustard if desired. Occasionally dip a morsel into apple cider vinegar then touch the encrusted seasoning for a blend of flavors. Save additional encrusted seasoning from the underbelly and legs for your corn ears or a chilled slice of Eastern Shore tomato sprinkled with crabmeat fragments. There is crab meat in all the legs.

Very interesting and informative video thank you. What I found really interesting is when that map of the Gulf of Mexico was shown looked like the majority of supposed natural oil seeps was in the North of that region. Right where most of the drilling and pipelines are. And hundreds if not thousands of capped well heads.

Is this the same method used for east coast blue crab? I've never gone crabbing because picking them seems like so much work for so little meat, but if I could get enough, I think this part would be therapeutic to me. :)

Wow I wonder how all this works now that there’s 72 different genders all of a sudden…….. courtesy of the loony left thought police who have decided sexual preferences now constitutes gender…… Perhaps all the ultrasound technicians need to be re-trained so that when pregnant mothers have their third trimester ultrasound rather than saying you’re having a boy or a girl they should be saying……. “well ma’am I don’t know what it is but I can confirm it’s got a cock….”

This is interesting! I totally agree with the ethical argument. If we make a mistake, it's our job to fix it as much as we can. I'm glad that rehab of oiled wildlife is legally required, and the supporting arguments outlined here will help keep it that way. Thanks for sharing!
