Love the slow seductive mood of the first 1.45, with the long organ notes and the clipped notes on the ride cymbal and high hat giving that soft percussion. Beautiful intro and classy vibe 🎶 🎸🎹 🥁

This was the beginning of the descent in to the boring old pisshead you'd have annoying everyone at the local bar with their catawailing. Great work up to this point though.

John will be discussed in a hundred years from now as one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever to exist. Let's see how long your comment stands the test of time. Regards, Lyn McMullan. Director of One World, One John

@@ELEMAY100 John Martyn was one of if not the best singer songwriters/performers of his or anyone's generation, I agree, but the latter part of his career was a bit of a car crash.
@suzannezoubeck52162 ай бұрын
@@johndamienreilly His entire life was a total car crash, but he still had things to say musically till the end. Whether you liked them or not is something else. As far as his offstage antics go, that's a whole 'nother story. The same person who likes the singer/songwriter with a folk flair (Nick Drake), might not like the space jazz musings of Sun Ra...but some of us do. John towards the end was somewhere in the middle. His brain was scrambled but never enough not to still be able to be brilliant and witty and silly and a musical master...and I'm not even sure about it being scrambled (though you know the alcohol addiction didn't make for clear thinking), but there was so much going on up there at such a rapid pace that it was like the thoughts were tripping over themselves to get out. Gone too soon...miss him much. ❤☮🌎

John added an extra dimension to Simple Minds. He was as upset as Derek Forbes was when Forbes got the sack from Simple Minds. He actually told Forbes that he had been asked to join Simple Minds to replace him. Forbes told him that if anyone was to replace him it should be John. That’s how highly he was thought of. R.I.P. Mr Giblin. See you in the next life.

A true masterpiece with his bass cobwebs was John Martyn's "Grace and Danger".I still keep on listening to every song, to keep that fire burning. Phil Collins' drumming was the cream topping!
