Installed the rear springs and spacers a little differently. Took the bottom bolt out of the shocks. Then compressed the springs down to 8 inches and wrapped the top coil and bottom coil with two HD loading straps to keep the springs compressed. Put the spring in the top pocket and held it there with a bar then slid the spacer with the cushion ring into place released the straps and all done. I don't recommend this way but it was the way I did it. Thanks.

Thanks for great video... the son of a pal had this idiot part break on his '01 Exploder. So, this kind of fine Ford engineering is exactly why I don't buy Ford, not since 1997. They earned my down thumb for autos. Some people swear by Ford, personally, I swore at Ford.

Use a bushing type instead of the bearings. Bearings are not deigned to bear that much side lift. Those chinese bearings are too weak to handle it. Advantage Lifts uses bushings. Maybe they will sell you a bushing pulley.
@1Lakeman18 күн бұрын
Get bushing pulleys to replace the bearing types. There is too much weight placed on those little balls. Bushings are designed to carry much more weight. Advantage Lifts use the bushings and never have had a failure.

Have an '04 Liberty too. So this is what I got from your video. Is this correct? 1. Close drain valve after all coolant drained. Open coolant cap and fill to fill line with new 50/50 mix 2. Leave coolant cap off 3. Start engine and turn on heat. Let engine run with cap OFF. 4. Watch coolant level and fill as it goes down to fill line (air is being purged) 5. After about 5 minutes, put on coolant cap ? ? ???? My old antifreeze was a little dirty but I might skip flushing with distilled water as I don't have any and would have to walk to the store 😆 idk

What if you just get a pocket circular saw and cut about 2" off the plastic fan shroud to make it shorter? Design improvement
@c.rutherford19 күн бұрын
This looks every bit as frustrating to do as I expected. Why do they design cars so they are so hard to work on? Why have those attachments in the bottom when simple screws you could access from under the car would have been so much easier. And what is with those ridiculous easy-to-break wire clips, they're practically a Jeep trademark. I like to call them "Mensa Clips" because each one is a new puzzle to figure out lol. The fan cover looks like its designed deliberately so you cant get to anything with it on, you can hardly get your hands in the engine at all.
@JunkworksGarage19 күн бұрын
screws are expensive clips are cheap, as far as cutting the shroud i would worry about overheating .

@@JunkworksGarage Actually I got lucky just now and mine pulled out pretty easy straight up. But I've definitely had times like your video. If only the plastic shield had a recess to fit the pulley wheel on the left. that was tricky. Bravo! Much room to get in now. Searching for the coolant drain valve. I'm assuming its the plug in the lower right corner of the radiator square but not sure how it comes off yet

I couldn't get it back in for anything. Then I took off one of those 6 bolts and it stripped from rust, I was like Oh, no no we're not going there. I finally just got a Dremel tool with a half circle and cut 1/2" of plastic off the top of the fan cage lip all the way across to make it shorter. The part that tucks in. Fits in and out WAY easier now. No gap either, so I can't imagine it being a problem. Hooray! No more design flaw

You need a thicker and larger base plate. I'm using 3/8" steel, and extending it out a lot further. 300 lbs at 4 ft distance is the putting thousands of lbs of torque on that 6" wide base plate.

I like my Astro, the newest year model I've ever owned. I am replacing door handles on a 2001 Astro, thanks for explaining the correct way to pop loose the lock rod. It runs vertically directly OVER the door handle's top bolt, and I didn't want to risk breaking some plastic part. I have a factory service manual but I can't find any mention of passenger outside door handles! There is a cost/benefit study as part of the design of any OEM part. I'll bet the assumption that all routine maintenance is done, including lubricating the latches figured into how many cycles it was rated for. Maybe these handles fail because the mechanisms get full of road dust and condensation, which stresses them beyond "design" limits?
