Hob doesn't even outlive his son *because* he is immortal. He outlives his son because his son dies young. You don't need to be immortal to outlive someone or to experience grief, and whether immortal or not, everyone must learn to deal with grief eventually. That's an even more powerful message. Hob is (literally) close to Death. He was a soldier. His first line is "I've seen Death. Death is stupid" While he chooses not to die, he doesn't ignore death in the world, he sees it. And loves life despite it. Perhaps even *because* of death. Hob loves to see things come, change and go, which is most necessary for an immortal to keep himself up with the times. If Hob could not deal with change or death, he would not enjoy immortality. (Also remember Death is one of the most lively and cheerful characters in The Sandman. She wants everyone to enjoy their life while it lasts.)

LOVE this video essay. I found this because i found the art in a google search, and saw it was a video, and I am thrilled to have sat down to play it. Not only do i love seeing the process, but the art is amazing AND you gave a SPOT ON character break down. Hob is my favorite character and I agree with everything you said about him and Dream. Well put. I have A Type too. Hob fills that for me. I'm also a huge Phil Coulson fan as well (which would be a nice video haha) but that Simple man type surrounded by Supers is always love. And I loved Hob from the comics, but they did amazing in the show. SO glad to run into this, thank you! Instant follow and time to go dive into more videos.

In the book and tv series show that Aziraphale and Crawly like to experience the human pleasures, like eating, drinking or listing to music. So, I think is one of the reasons they become friends, they think the same way about that idea. Why they help each other to save the Earth. Aziraphale his a romantic who like love stories like from Jane Austen. But he also like to feel for reel, he invited his Mr Darcy to a ball and dance with him. So kiss and make love can be logical, about what we know of them. They seem to have respect, curiosity, a platonic interest at first, before the fall of angels. After, they will experience on theirs side or together human pleasures for 6000 years at think.They seem to become closer trought all thoses years. But din't be free to be more obvious about theirs feeling or desire.

I have read about Metraton in many esoteric books: after Good Omens I have never hated him so much. That fucking son of a wheelbarrow

Crowley certainly isn't passionate about being a demon. His happy ending absolutely includes being stripped of both his angelic and demonic baggage and just going on as a third category. Also... remember Crowley and Aziraphale are the reason Gabriel and Beezlebub were able to get their happy ending. Even right before they left it was Aziraphale that suggested/encouraged the others to allow the pair to decide for themselves. It was Crowley that just walked in and called off the war that Aziraphale declared. For whatever reason when Crowley and Aziraphale spoke heaven and hell listened. 🤷🏾 Also, also.... There was no way Aziraphale would have turned around after he found out about the Second Coming; that would have flown in the face of everything we knew about his character. Crowley wants to be with Aziraphale. Period. He doesn't care if humanity survives or not. (Even if this all ends up in a burning puddle of goo!) However, Aziraphale definitely wants to be with Crowley but he is not willing to sacrifice or abandon humanity in order to do it.

I really do think Aziraphale was lying to a degree during their fight, not in a “heaven is the bad guys” way, just in a “I’m terrified for the love of my life and need to save him” sort of way. If you look at him walking back to the bookshop he doesn’t look happy at all, he looks worried. I think he decided in those few moments that he didn’t have a choice on going to heaven, but Crowley did, and if Crowley thought he was just going for them, they’d never be ok with it. So to protect Crowley, Aziraphale did a small lie in pretending he wanted to go. Their argument was still real and so were his points, but the thing that started it, wasn’t. That’s why he’s still acting so much like it’s actually happening, because it is. Because he’s actually having to push Crowley away to protect him and he wasn’t able to convince him, so now if he wants to keep him safe he has to leave, and after that kiss how in the world can he

I know Azraphiel is a Principality (it's stated as such). I think Crowley was higher ranked as well. From the Good Omens Wiki " It is also implied he may have had a high ranking when he was an Angel as he was able to access Gabriel’s files in Heaven, which Muriel said could only be done by “a Throne, a Dominion, or higher”."
