I Love this Opening theme song of Clash of the Champions back in 1989 It was awesome. And it still sounds good. Great memories I had of the WCW years. Jim Ross was the best commentator from that decade. Oh yes it was on TBS Superstation.

Sting verse Ric Flair... 1987 or 88 I believe was the very first Clash of the Champions... I was a Sting fan ever since even though he lost the match💯💯

YES!!! I'm right back in the late 80s watching this, used this at the start and as the bumper music coming in and out of commercials (Clashs were free shows a few times a year on TBS Superstation).

Hogan is only 6'5". At this point in his career I would bet that Andre was only about 6'9" due to being unable to stand completely upright.

Why does Hogan look older in the 80s than he did in the 90s-early 2000's?
@tafkaga
@tafkaga 13 жыл бұрын
Based on what others have said, Andre was about 7 ft or 7'1" at his peak height. At this stage of his life he was starting to slouch more due to weight and the deformity from his disease. I think at wrestleMania 3 he was probably only about 6'9".

On the first WWE Hulk dvd Hogan says he would have a hard time driving to a match with Andre. He'd be so scared of getting his ass beat, that he'd pull over and get sick on the side of the road...that's BADASS!!

Does Vince McMahon own the rights to the WWE/F wrestlers vintage matches in Japan? Well, whoever the current owner(s) is or are, he, she, or they, should release THESE on DVD!

This match occurred around the early 80s, not 77'. Hogan only made his first televised debut around 1979, though he turned pro in August 77.
@leandar

You're right, but not completely. This is still a early 1980's match. In the late 70's, Hogan was wrestling under names such as The Super Destroyer, Sterling Golden and Terry "The Hulk" Boulder. The name "Hulk Hogan" didn't come into use until he arrived in the WWF in 1979 and according to Hogan, he went to Japan for the first time in 1980 with Freddie Blassie as his manager. It was in the WWF and later Japan that he first worked with Andre and Andre taught him the respect for wrestling.

Andre moved a lot better here than he did at WrestleMania 3, but he was still well beyond his prime. He was a lot more heavy here than he had been in the prime of his career.

It is really sad how much Andre deteriorated from this video in 1983 to WM III in 1987, when he could barely walk.
