I used to adore using these two in the challenge mode when i was younger, i just never noticed how bad they were. This was cuz i never got to play Pikmin 2 because finding a copy either it be Gamecube or Wii in ANY gamestop was as hard as finding gold in a river. Thats not even mentioning finding it and the price be ludicrous. But now that im older i deeeefinitely know how shit these guys are in this game. So say it with me folks. When I was playing Pikmin 4, I managed to get a bulborb got stuck on one of those moving gates and when the gate went down it stayed afloat mid-air for a for a solid while. Also, not a glitch, but I didn't fight the Smoky Progg in Cavern For a King, as I managed to destroy its egg before it hatched. I had no idea it dropped a treasure until now.

In pikmin 2, I tried to get the salivatrix, but dropped it on a gas tube. And... it CLIPPED INTO THE FLOOR

White and Purple Pikmin’s “inclusion” in the side content is like the playable Puffmin glitch in 1, niche but mainly pointless

I think one of the best abilities white pikmin have is being able to spit acid to dissolve metal. Too bad it’s only seen being used in the pikmin shorts.

I think it would be interesting to see how the fandom feels about bad design in each Pikmin game. I'm admittedly biased towards 1 and 2, but I see it this way: Pikmin 1 has the best game design overall, but it's by far the jankiest and buggiest game in the series. Pikmin 2 has the best gameplay with the least amount ot compromises/questionable decisions in this regard, while being the wackiest in level "design". Pikmin 3 had a divisive gameplay overhaul but the most polish so far, while the story mode is easily the worst in the series. Pikmin 4 had the most ambition story-wise and balance between Pikmin types, all the while making the dumbest decisions in pretty much all other regards. And for the funzies, Hey! Pikmin is janky, a bit of a slog, but is mostly carried by its charm.

Pikmin 2 really did nearly perfect the Pikmin formula. Why did Miyamoto have to try to change it?

If I designed the ravenous whiskerpiller I would make it so they would clime the spiderwort, then grab a berry, jump down with the berry & scurry around for a bit, then burrowing into the ground. When they come out the next time the berry is gone.

With Pikmin 3 having a rough development and an entire area cut, I wouldn't ve surprised that purples are actually just bugged and they didn't have the dev time to fix them
