I understand what she's going through. I'm getting older, and it feels like shell-rot. I have a bum knee, so I walk with a limp. Also, I have a signature face-in-the-clam move.🤭

Just curious. If it were still just in her claws would amputation be a possible last resort? I’m unfamiliar with crab ownership and care so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question.

That is something I did not know. I figured clams would be too tough for a crab.

Set the crab free and let it live a full crab life! Or, if it can't survive in the ocean, maybe you could give it a richer environment with more space and another crab or two.

I might be thinking of lobsters (or not even them) but isn't it possible to remove a crabs claws as they regrow them with time? It may not be ideal but it's better than it dying

Also, don't feed your crabs with intertidal crustaceans or raw shrimps,as they may contain fatal pathogens for crabs. If you want to give them shellfish, make sure that those shellfish were sterilized by iodine or been cooked

It seems that this Callinectes sapidus was suffering from those cankers.Maybe you should use some iodine and keep the water clean

My wife enjoys grilled clams and has over the years has shown me a few that had a tiny crab inside. She told me that makes the clam poisonous because the crab slowly decays inside.

Hey man you should use HOCL (hypochlorous acid - sounds bad but id does gooood) at ppm of 80 - 100. it is non cytotoxic. let the crab soak in it for a minute a day. should sort out any fungal or bacterial infections. must be pure though and not just a chlorine bleach. HOCL -
