I want full control of my plane. Don't need a babysitter. I also prefer windy days. To each their own.
@RCVideoReviews2 сағат бұрын
In stabilize mode, you still have full control of your plane. I liken stabs to trim--we use trim in full size planes to ease the pilot's burden. Little spin of the wheel and it let's us focus on flying the plane rather than keeping a certain pressure on the stick to maintain altitude or heading. But your money, your hobby--do your thing. I'm happy to flick a stabilizer on when I'm flying small planes on windy days. Perfectly acceptable.

It's an elegant solution, but having the separate switches is actually a good safety feature! Having a heli jump alive with a single switch command can make for a very bad day if you bump the radio or knock it over and flip that switch. (Voice of experience here...)
@RCVideoReviews13 сағат бұрын
Every other fbl I have uses single switch arming. I don’t subscribe to the what if I bump a switch school of thought. In RC there are all kinds of switches that can cause bad things to happen if used by mistake. For example do you have two stage disarm? What happens if you’re flying and you accidentally disarm the fbl? Could you turn the motor off re arm, and then get the motor on again before it crashes? At the end of the day, your money, your hobby. Do your thing.
@JustPlaneChris12 сағат бұрын
@@RCVideoReviews For sure, there are gotcha's to having a separate arm / safety switch. I guess I'm a bit paranoid after an accidental arm situation myself, plus a friend who ended up with 50 stiches from a plane runaway after his radio fell over and armed / went full throttle. Everyone has to do their own risk assessment and act accordingly. Heck, I know there are guys in my club who don't even have an arm switch at all for their planes! Bump the throttle stick and there she goes.

Exactly. That's why I say your money, your hobby. You have to do what makes sense for you. I'm just showing options.
@JustPlaneChris4 сағат бұрын
@@RCVideoReviews your comment about possibly disarming RF in flight prompted me to do some logic switch action on my setup so I can only disarm if the motor switch is in the OFF position. Now I still have the two step arming I’m comfortable with, but can’t accidentally disarm in flight! Thanks for the thoughtful discussion on this topic. 👍

The speed tuning video has the optimized format settings for speed. This wasn't about testing read/write speeds, it was about the impact of partition size on mounting.

@RCVideoReviews13 сағат бұрын
This is one of the main reasons I use ExpressLRS--all of the current receivers have a vbat pad so I get battery telemetry without any external hardware. One wire to the balance plug when I connect my battery and I have voltage on everything I fly. Sounds like your radio has a 4in1 (R86C is not ELRS). You can add an ELRS ranger module to the TX16s easily though.

Thank you for the video, very interesting solution, especially to keep energy while discharging the Lipo packs. Would a single LiFePO4 battery be enough for smaller 2s to 4s Lipo packs? I am a little confused with your amps rating. My understanding would be, with the 2 batteries we double the power, so in series we double the voltage without increasing the amps and in parallel we would double the amps without increasing the voltage.

I’m trying to figure out why you had to add so little nose weight?

One thing I noticed when I replaced the stock micro SD card that came with my Boxer with a faster one I had was that the radio's startup time was cut in half. I'm talking about the amount of time you have to hold the power button before the radio vibrates and plays the welcome audio track.
@RCVideoReviewsКүн бұрын
This is the first use case I've heard where a faster card actually mattered in a meaningful way. I noticed on the Boxer Crush the looooooooooong boot delay and thought that was just a thing on BW radios. After I saw your post, I partitioned a 32GB Sandisk Extreme to 1GB, copied the Boxer Crush contents to it and WHOOOOOOSH, it mounts really fast now. The little dashes don't even make an appearance before I get the buzz and I can release the button. Good tip. Will be discussed on a video!

Excellent job as usual👍👍👍. If you are moving from a 420 to a 700 shouldn’t the pids be a little different? I wish there was an option for choosing a size of a Heli to get at least in the ball park. The question of size on PIDS is TBD for me. I tuned the 420 and 700 separately and need to do a side-by-side comparison. At this point, I get the sense there will not be a dramatic difference.

I’m glad I’m not the only person experiencing slow mount and dismount (ejecting being the most annoying) of the SD card on a Mac. I have tested formatting, partition size and SD card types to see if anything helps. Nothing really seems to be the complete answer to the issue. Big Sur is slightly better than Sonoma (Intel based versus ARM M2 based) . Linux Mint has been the smoothest of all using EdgeTX or ExprsessLRS Applications and file transfers.
@wingsounds132 күн бұрын
I learned something today (Oh, wait... that's somebody else 😁). Thanks for this tour of the SD card structure. I sort-of understood it, but this video clarified a number of points. I do have a question: Yes, the SD card partition size does influence the USB mount time, but is this actually meaningful to normal day-to-day radio operation. Does this have a meaningful effect on something like radio boot speed or any other radio operations? I already do 99% of my SD card manipulation plugged directly into the computer because of the slowness of the USB interface, so I just use my SD cards at max partition size. Show me a good reason and I'll consider using a reduced partition size.
@RCVideoReviews2 күн бұрын
I spend a reasonable amount of time connecting my radio to my PC. Waiting for 30s every single time becomes--in a word--annoying--especially when there's no point in waiting over a simple re-partition. The radio also has to mount/dismount the card for power on/off/sd card mode. It all adds up. Whether you use a smaller partition or not: Your $$, your hobby. Do your thing. I'm not invested in the decision--just presenting the facts.
@wingsounds13Күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply, but what I get from it is that a larger partition _may_ add time to the radio boot sequence, but this may be milliseconds and you don't really know how many. As I said before, the long USB connect time is meaningless to me because I do 99% of my SD data transfer by plugging the SD card directly into the computer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great video. I've programmed Flaperons into lots of my airplanes already. Using a 6 channel receiver. They DID HAVE functional Rudders. Question. I'm currently building an airplane with a FIXED Rudder. Do you know if it's possible to program in Flaperons onto an airframe with Ailerons, an Elevator and FIXED Rudders. A servo will not be needed for the rudder. Can this be done on a FOUR CHANNEL RECEIVER. If I'm making since, and you know the correct answer, let me know please. This will be done on SPEKTRUM electronics. THANKS.

Odd results with partitions around 18m mark, but later in the video the partition issue became more obvious. I still think it had something to do with the contents being the same from disk to disk and MacOS having some view as to the index. There is a very clear link to partition size when it comes to mounting time on MacOS in my experience.

@RCVideoReviews2 күн бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by mapping. There are plenty of places to assign buttons/switches to tasks. EdgeTX requires a little effort to understand, but if you make that effort, it pays off. I suggest you keep watching my EdgeTX videos. Use your radio to play along and eventually this lightbulb will go off and you'll be unstoppable. It's a GREAT ecosystem and very very easy to use once you develop an understanding.

Can this gyro be used in a plane using a taileron mix such as an f22?
@RCVideoReviews2 күн бұрын
It doesn't have a mix feature to stabilize from the gyro, but it will pass commands from your radio to any combo of five outputs you want. So you could do Ail1 + Ail2 + Ele1 + Ele2 OR Ail1/2 + Ele1 + Ele2 on your outputs and they will function per the mix from your radio. It has built-in mixing for standard fixed wing, flying wings, and v-tails meaning you can just configure the standard AETR on your radio and it will mix the outputs for you.
