Left-wing partisanship posing as insight into populism. Just complete, self-involved nonsense.

"The truth that I would like to leave with you is that if the Left is not able to mobilize people's hopes and passion towards a more just and egalitarian society, there is a SERIOUS RISK that right-wing populist parties will succeed in occupying this terrain [of populism] and in that case what awaits us is much worse than [the current hegemonic order of] post-democracy." Prescient.

WOW - Michel Foucault is turning in his grave. - If anyone paid money for this or fees you need to be asking for it back, this isnt 'discourse analysis' ! What university is this and what school, I dont believe it is as this just does not stand up to the first scrutiny - its subjective drivvel.

Mr Brading really shouldn't be lecturing anyone on anything. He's clearly a fantasist who doesn't check the veracity of materials he cites.

Ryan Brading do you get paid for this nonsense ?
@tombo19849 жыл бұрын
Well this is about the most fictionalized nonsense I have ever witnessed about UKIP and Nigel Farage. Let me just point out a couple of things. 1- The poster that Ryan Brading presented "by UKIP" saying "Guess whos children EU migrants want to eat" - It's fake. UKIP never used that poster during the May elections, I should know, I am an activist for UKIP and have seen all of their posters. The question is did Ryan Brading create the fake poster or was he duped into using it by someone else? 2- The Romanian's and Bulgarians poster. The poster/leaflet reads "Next year, the EU will allow 29million Bulgarians and Romanians to come to the UK". It does not read... "Next year, 29million Bulgarians and Romanians will come to the UK"... It is highlighting the fact that 29million Bulgarians and Romanians will have the option to come to the UK. The UK has a open borders agreement with the EU meaning we have to allow anyone from the other 27 member states to come to the UK. As for the number of Bulgarians and Romanians, according to the 2011 census, the population of Romania is 19,043,767 and the Bulgarian population is 7,364,570. There are also 964,552 Bulgarians and 3,353,597 Romanians living elsewhere in the EU. They all have a legal right to come to the UK if they so do wish. That's an overall population of Bulgarians and Romanians living in the EU of 30,726,486. So no, actually UKIP underestimated the number if anything. The lecturer above has clearly lied.
