They're not intended to replace a separate (electronic) calendar, but instead to provide support for intentional block time (time boxing) methods, which is a big part of his views on productivity. He also has a productivity video online that discusses how he views the difference between the Top 3 Goals, Must Complete Tasks, and People to connect with. He calls it his one page productivity method.
