Wonderful, informative, presentation! Thank you. As a young boy in the late 1950's or early 60's, I heard my uncle, Paul Koch, play the Carnegie Hall organ for a Sunday afternoon concert. He was organist at St. Paul Cathedral. In the cold weather, bums came into the building and slept in the 2nd level area. In one of the compositions tubular bells were played. I asked my mother what was creating the bell sounds. She pointed athe pipes. But I wondered how the pipes made those sounds.

Totally agree, the room is dead and the organ is completely undistinguished-dull, opaque sound and machinery-noise sounding reeds, no clarity, sparkle or fire. Most, unfortunately, there are those who want to promulgate this vapid style of organbuilding today.

Why is thee Such s gap in your presentations. It is needless and distracting. For an organ on it's last legs that is a ery healthy sound. It can be salvaged. Yes, it is a matter of money but it can be done how about a section at a time.

Who the hell edited this video?!?! Take it down, re-edit it WITHOUT THE OVERPOWERING BACKGROUND MUSIC (it is not needed and is just wrong), and re-upload a greatly corrected version. An otherwise very fine personal background video is, in this current form, ruined. Please FIX IT.

The original organ should never have been removed. Yes it was damaged but could have been restored. Dr. Lord wanted to have an organ he designed so he put the awful Moehler in. It was awful. The Reuter’s is OK But the sound of that Skinner will never be replaced. I’ve heard all three of them so I know this to be a fact!
@davidknight3819

Always wondered what the original organ sounded like. I heard the Moller but dont remember what exactly it sounded like as I was a kid. It was cool to me though because it was a pipe organ so regardless, I enjoyed it. I like the sound of the Reuter. I remember going and hearing it at Christmas for the choir concerts. No better way to get in the holiday spirit.
@bensommer4529
@bensommer4529 Жыл бұрын
The Reuter is currently on its last legs, I play it multiple times a week. When they added to the Möller they didn't releather anything. The console is consistently unreliable and there are many dead notes and occasional ciphers. It doesn't sound good at all, it has no character, tons of lazy borrowing and no 4' flute on the Choir (insanity). I've heard Bob Lord himself was kind of senile at the time the Reuter went in. If he wanted a French organ, why on earth did he pick Reuter of all firms? And now Reuter has closed up shop. A fitting end for a crap builder. Hopefully they'll do something about the chapel organ soon...

I repeat, they should have repaired the Skinner. It was killer. I sang many a wedding there in the late 1960’s and it roared like thunder in that building. What a shame that now they will need a fourth organ.

Hello! I'm looking for the administrator of this channel - the executive board of the chapter would like to be able to post videos, but we don't know who the current administrator of the account is. I apologize, there doesn't seem to be a great way to direct message a channel and this comment can be removed if/when we have more correspondence. Thanks - Ryan Croyle

Background music must never exceed 20% of the total audio modulation level; the background music in this video measures no less than 60% of the combined audio track(s). Never overdrive background music at the expense of the primary subject/focus of the audio track being generated. I, too, join the chorus of those who wish to hear what Ms. Groom had to say, during a potentially great interview.
