This recipe serves 8 people Ingredients: Mango puree 4 cups (used 3 large Banginapalli mangoes) Boiled sabudana (sago) 2 cups Boiled and cooled Milk 2 cups Honey or sweetener of your choice (Adjust the sweetness) Process: 1.Add in everything one by one and mix well to ensure there are no lumps. 2.Chill in the fridge for a couple of hours and serve. It's just as simple as that. Tip:Boiling the sabudana takes about 10 to 15 min but if you soak them for a while they soften very quickly.

Play is the highest form of research said Sir Albert Einstein. But, these days FREE PLAY has definitely taken a back seat and kids spend most of their free time in front of the screens. This has increased exponentially since the lockdown days due to which a lot of problems are cropping up everyday in the kids. And the only way to reverse this is by encouraging FREE PLAY in our kids. What is free play and why is it necessary for our kids? Free play is unstructured, voluntary, child-initiated activity that allows children to develop their imaginations while exploring and experiencing the world around them. It is the spontaneous play that comes naturally from children’s natural curiosity, love of discovery, and enthusiasm. This looks like a lot of scientific jargon isn't it? In simple terms FREE PLAY is letting our children play freely without us adults expecting any specific outcome from them. In the process the children learn and develop a lot of skills holistically. So, is free play restricted only to the outdoors? No, it isn't. Both outdoor play and indoor play can be considered as Free play as long as the child has the freedom to control their own play experience. (Of course in a safe environment). Does FREE PLAY mean that the child has to play alone? No, the child can be alone or play with their peers or even an adult (parent or caretaker) can often join in. For Eg, My husband and I are always up for free play with my boys while we consciously try not to insist on follwing our rules and refrain from pitching in our ideas, we just let them figure it out by themselves. But, why is this "FREE PLAY" so important? Free play has a plethora of benefits and you will be amazed to know about them. I'm listing a few of them below: 1.Encourages Creativity, 2.Improves Problem Solving & Decision Making Skills, 3.Develops Physical Abilities (motor skills), 4. Improves Social & Communication Skills, 5.Develops planning skills, 6.Language development, 7.Encourages Independence, 8.Develops Visual perception, 9.Auditory perception, 10.Spacial perception, 11.Helathy expression, 12.Proprioception and 13 Overall brain development. Happy playing!!

Glory Lily or Flame Lily or Fire Lily (Gloriosa superba) Family: Colchinaceae Some interesting facts: 1. All parts of the plant are poisonous. They contain a toxic alkaloid called Colchicine. 2. The colorful things on the flower are not called petals but TEPALS as these parts can neither be differentiated into sepals or petals (all the Liliaceae members have tepals) 3. The tendril part is the tip of the leaf. The tip of the leaf is a modified tendril which helps the plant climb. 4. The plant has many medicinal properties and is used in traditional medicine in Asia and Africa. 5. The flowers start off as pale green buds which are inverted but as the flower opens they turn upward and the tepals change color from yellow to orange to scarlet. 6. National flower of Zimbabwe and State flower of Tamil Nadu in our country. In Telugu it is called What is it called Agnisikha or Adavinabhi In konkani it is called Aarti or Waag What is it called in your language? Please do comment. #floraandfaunaofgoa #floraandfaunabydn #westernghats #glorylily #floraofwesternghats #floraofindia #flowerstagram

It's name clearly states TOUCH-ME-NOT and yet none of us can resist touching it, isn't it? Scientific name: Mimosa pudica And why do you think these fellows are so shy? Read on.. In simple terms it can be explained like this: When we touch the plant, out touch acts as a stimulus and releases some chemicals which causes the leaves to lose it's water. And due to this lose of water, a difference is created in the turgor pressure at the base of the leaf. And this causes the leaves to close. If you want to know the process in detail, read on some more. Leaves of Mimosa pudica are sensitive. When touched, the stimulus reaches the base of the leaf and the water in the vacuoles of the cells of the leaf loses water to the adjacent cell. All the water escapes the leaf which then becomes flaccid. This causes the leaves to close. This is due to the passing of impulse which causes the change in turgor pressure. Owing to this stimulus, the turgor of the lower half of the pulvinus is lost and the leaf droops down. The stimulus is transmitted as an action potential from a stimulated leaflet to the leaflet’s swollen base, and from there to the pulvini of the other leaflets, which run along the length of the leaf’s rachis. The action potential then passes into the petiole, and finally to the large pulvinus at the end of the petiole, where the leaf attaches to the stem. What's the use of this mechanism for these plants? Mimosa plants use their ability to shrink as a defense from herbivores. Animals may be afraid of a fast-moving plant and would rather eat a less active one. Also, the sudden movement dislodges harmful insects. Happy learning!!

Did you know that this dance of water on certain leaves has a name? It's called the LOTUS EFFECT. SCIENCE BEHIND IT: This unique phenomenon in certain leaves happens due to a combination of micro and nano structure with optimized geometry (of the papillae and wax tubules) and the unique chemical composition of epicuticular waxes. In laymens terms: It is due to the combination of a unique waxy coating on the surface and the rough texture of the top most layer of the leaves. This unique ability is usually found in the aquatic leaves like Lotus, water lily, Taro (this is in the video) and some other leaves like opuntia (prickly pear, a type of 🌵) nasturtium etc. This phenomenon helps the leaves stay dry and also helps in the elimination of dirt, bacteria and fungi. How fascinating is this right? Follow me for more of such cool stuff. So, what is Marangoni effect? A liquid with a high surface tension pulls more strongly on the surrounding liquid than one with a low surface tension, the presence of a gradient in surface tension will naturally cause the liquid to flow away from regions of low surface tension. So what happened in this experiment? In this experiment the ink has a lower surface tension than water, creating a surface tension gradient that pulls the leaf forward. Do try it with your littles, they will love it. But a word of caution: Use an old plate or bowl to do the experiment as the ink is a bit tough to get rid off and be ready to stain your fingers and finger nails. 😂
