Question for yall. Why wouldn’t you switch ball screen, dho and pin downs? If you go over them the will curl/drive and surely it means a paint touch… or if they tag the curl/drive we get in rotations and an open 3. Can someone sell me on the “over” the pin down/ball screen to still protect the paint and cover kickout 3s. Thanks

I've been coaching this for years & I make this decision based on each opponent's strength & sometimes the personnel I have on the floor. I'll always switch guards because the matchup should be about the same. If the screen is trying to get a mismatch, we play under & maybe ice the screen if my 2nd defender is a big.

My son's travel soccer coach asks questions instead of barking commands. He includes "What do you see?". I'm going to use this strategy with youth basketball this winter.

Lol. You showed a uva clip to start. Then followed with a bunch of dive and fill zone offense.

This is great coach. I’ve always struggled with being too passive on the court. This shift in mentality has changed my game 💯

As a hockey fan, this is why I can watch college basketball from time to time. Full court press and forechecking are essentially the same thing, players working hard to cause turnovers and create opportunities. It's fun and exciting. I can't stand the NBA and have never understood its appeal. The players' egos are too big to play a full court press.

You have zero idea what you are talking about, they aren’t running 5 out sets on half of these. The corners are actually crucial for spacing so you wrong there as well . Your voice is annoying AF also. GF

This defense is very personnel dependent. You will need a team of long athletes that move well for this to be most effective. And honestly any defense works if you have that

What if you move your 4 back during the inbounds instead of deny the pass? That way they're not running back to hurry and trap the inbounds.

My son (7) has played in different leagues with different heights and number of players. The best was 4 on 4 on 7' 6" rim. More touches, more flow, more scoring.

whats great is this mentality also is good for an overall team offense. Quick decisions leads to great offense, instead of being a blackhole on offense. edit: he mentions this later on lol

This is the best defense against this generation of drive and attack offense. But teams like Gonzaga and teams with multiple shooters will give it problems. I think it is an excellent defense at the high school level..

Can you run this if your outside shooting is just average at best? If not what do you suggest? Can you just emphasize more of the dribble drive aspect? Do you have to have the perimeter post drive everytime, is that ever guards diving?

In the video the cross screen is taking place at the foul line but in your diagram the cross screen action is on the low block. Do they do both out of different alignments?
