Especially early/late for the states. It’s 2:06 AM. B Blod must be a damn vampire 😂 God, I hate a new computer. Just picked up my new M3 MBA realized I needed a new Ethernet dongle… which the busiest Apple Store on the East Coast of the US was out of… delivery was a month out at Apple. Got a newer one on Amazon anyway as well as a second charger. This new MagSafe will be interesting. Feel like I betrayed my 2015 MBP, at the moment my wife will be using it for remote painting classes. What an inglorious end for a great machine.

Pretty sure these gaming ROG laptops use liquid metal on CPU for cooling, and liquid metal is known to scoot to the side, and you get dry spots on CPU dye. You probably would have to remove the heatsink and redo the liquid metal to fix this, seems unlikely that it would be component failure of some sort

Thanks Paul, I hadn't thought to check the PSU for the Dell SFF that decided not to work the night before it was being given to a needy family. Lucky I had a spare machine for them. Forgot I had that PSU tester. Had to get that one many, many years ago when the ATX PSUs came out and the old tester didn't work them. Please now that I haven't through the SFF box out. If someone is experiencing lag in Chat then click on the *LIVE* word next to the play button or volume slider (can't remember which it's beside 🤦‍♂). I often have the Chat go wonky and that brings it back to a LIVE status without needing to close the window and open it again or use SHIFT Refresh.

Looks like we've got a couple of machines that have come to me via another agent that were done by a B2B who recently turned off my services "We can do it ourselves, and cheaper". This is what you get when you have delusions of your skillset, and more painfully, on actual customer machines rather than your own learning gear.

The issue with working on equipment where the problem was not resolved by the last technician can be frustrating. The prior technician may have R&R many components inducing more problems due to sloppy work (for me, especially frustrating with the radio shop I work with). So, you not only have to find and repair the original problem, you then have to correct technician's induced problems.

So far I've found a piece of solder ( unmelted ) that had bridged across touchbar data lines and GND, so that was hilarious, still not fixed though Also found multiple bad caps ( no endcaps ) that were actually critical caps ( internal LDO support) ... still not fixed Going to be a couple more things I fear :(

Hey Paul. Sorry missed you live. But I received my unit(UYUE 946C) today as well. My hot plate isn't that wobbly as yours. Haven't opened up mine yet so it was interesting to see your teardown. Thinking what I should improve now. Earth connections are indeed first thing that seem to be very sketchy. Fuse should be replaced just to be sure. Thinking what about rest of the wires since someone already commented wires are too thin. Have to take a look for sure.

Glad you took a look inside. Well, the cables of the input are not what they say they are. I think it says 22 AWG but the mm^2 of the cores of the cables say otherwise, lol. Anyway, they are fake and not suitable for the current the plate draws. I bought a new input with 16 AWG cables in the end, changed the screws, crimped the cabels, bought teethed washers, removed enamel where necessary, recut the dirty M4 threads that are used as ground, grounded the bottom plate - ridiculous :D Btw, the cable you indentified as earth on the aluminium plate should actually be the probe of the thermostat. I'm not sure the device has a working ground at all at the moment.
@PLDLive
@PLDLive Ай бұрын
Hello 405, with the thermostat, yes, later in the video I deduce it's likely actually to be that ( and yes, loose ). When you talk about the "input cables", which ones are you speficially referring to? The ones from the IEC connector (internally) or something else? Thanks for responding back.
@The-four-o-five
@The-four-o-five Ай бұрын
@@PLDLive The ones from the IEC connector, yes. I guess you've already noticed that the ends of the cables are not crimped. To make things worse, the ends of the live and neutral wires are tinned.. the worst solution in my opinion especially because the cores of the cables are so extremely thin.

Re: Redmi 9C - it was the large connector that carries USB power from the bottom of the phone to the screen, then to the top board. It wasn't making proper contact on the top, slightly damaged probably. I put in pieces of tape on the connector so the screws will push down more on it. Now makes good contact, not worth putting more effort into it...

Can you make a bracket to mount to the block you have it sitting over and then let it hang either over the slide arms front or rear? That would get is away from the block and maybe work better. Just a thought.

Now if I can just sort out the Notifications I won't need to be concerned with that. Isn't *MATE* an acronym for My Arse Tastes Excellent. 😲 Looing forward to seeing the cattery update video and of course the kitties. I saw a video where a couple had made their whole house cat friendly with walkways and "tunnels" through wall. The spent USD$35,000 on the setup about 10 years ago. Pretty cool looking too. I think they were trying to rival you with cat numbers. 🤭
