Remember: Always remove the fill plug first. (as shown in this video) The last thing you want is to remove the drain plug and then not be able to remove the fill plug.

I noticed a while ago that the sedan seats were different because they had no lumbar support knob; I had just figured that our sedan's first owner was a fat guy who wore out the seat(!), and that the second owner didn't know any better... When I swap in a set of previously purchased coupe seats, I will look to see if this happened to our seats - thanks!!

I'm planning to do all the three diff bushings. I see you mentioned the last subframe press kit works for the two front ones. How about the rear(big) one? Does it contain any matching receiving cup?
@MINIzguy19 күн бұрын
I use a FWD Wheel Bearing press kit for the one on the rear. The one in this video doesn't work for it
@jmrarmstrong9 күн бұрын
I just removed the whole thing in one piece, and I'm ready to replace all the bushings. Do you have a link for the tools you use?
@Al3xX90259 күн бұрын
@@jmrarmstrong I got the exact same kit as in the end of this video for the smaller two, and the wheel bearing press that 50skid shows in his video. I was able to take all of them out and back in. I accidentally managed to break the bearing in the subframe kit by using the wrong cup. Actually, I enlarged half of the socket because of that😅 For the rear one, I got M14 10.9 grade threaded rod cut to length and matching nuts. It was very rusted and stubborn and really needed a lot of force, despite using the provided bearing to ease some of the friction force. Along with servicing the diff seals, center support bearing and guibo, this took me something like 18 hours in total.

If the rear is a torque distribution differential, the center chamber uses G3 Hypoid Differential Fluid, and the outer 2 chambers use BMW SAF Carbon Mod Differential Oil. Think you had it in reverse. But your video helped me locate the plugs for my x5 f15 with dynamic torque vectoring.
@MLeung-vl7we14 күн бұрын
Just did mine. Passenger-side refill plug is a little hard to reach due to the exhaust pipe. I used LM 75W90 Fully Synthetic Hypoid Gear Oil for center, and BMW SAF Carbon Mod Differential Oil for the two outside chambers. Of course, each outer chambers uses just slightly more than 1 bottle, thus 3 bottles.

Hi thanks for posting this video. I have 318ti compact m44. recently it started giving headaches: engine will stop, especially short distance driving, usually an explosion in exhaust follows. Found out crankshaft breather hose that was cracked, changed it but problem seems to repeat. could it be a faulty PCV valve ??? I know nothing about how engine works 😱😱😱

Why take the EPB off if you put it in service mode or why put it in service mode if you take the EPB off? Just so you know, if you work on a vehicle that has an EPB which you can not retract via vehicle DIC, you can manually retract them by taking off the EPB and turned the screw on the back of the caliper.

I think the sensor checks that is made out of the special coating (the radiator) not the temperature of it

Ok I read somewhere that but not sure. I think you are right, Let me share my experience for others. - Bought 328xi 2009 e90 manual transmission. - It had the check engine soon light on. - The guy who sold it to me said he just had the radiator changed and I did have the 2AD8 code. - Got. CSF radiator and a eac sensor from uro parts (got them both at fcp euro. (even when fcp euro say that radiator doesn’t come with a control sleeve and you should consider buying one separately (which I did), that radiator comes with two control sleeve (long for automatic, short for manual) (Also fcp Euro will tell you that that radiator only works for automatic transmissions not manual… not true) - Got the parts yesterday and changed the radiators but for testing purposes I used the old sensor which was grabbed with zip ties to the old radiator that had no port for the eac sensor. The probe and clips were broken so I zip tied it to where it was supposed to go to see if it would do anything, it didn’t. Light and code would still come up. - went back to the car, and exchanged sensors (doing the cable repining before hand) and I installed it with NO GLUE. - it did fit snug and light and code is gone. Will be driving more today throughout the week and seems that it works. So no glue necessary.

@@leveluplife8585 check the wiring diagram to the color codes of the wires. I don't have a clue what they would be for. To get the motors to work, you'd need to wire up the leveling sensor and reprogram the LCM at the minimum

If you drain your transmission completely and fill it up with only 5 quarts,you will destroy your transmission.You have to fill it up with 10 quarts of ATF(9.4 litres)
@MINIzguy4 ай бұрын
you can't drain the transmission completely without removing the torque converter
@bobnutz72413 ай бұрын
@MINIzguy Actually, we ended up destroying our 5L40E after doing a recent oil change.We filled 5 quarts of ATF after completely draining the transmission.We took it for a test drive and the transmission started overheating and went into Trans Failsafe program.We then discovered that the oil capacity was actually 10 quarts and it ended up taking another 5 quarts of Dex III,but we were too late as it had already damaged 1st and 2nd gear.There is now a grinding noise coming from the transmission

How much weight does thinning the wiring harness weight save? Are there other benefits?
@MINIzguy4 ай бұрын
I think I removed at least 15 lbs of wiring. Just the audio wiring is pretty heavy and it comes out separately from the body harness. Simplying the harness helps diagnosing issues in the end as there are less unconnected wires that could chafe and short
