My problem is I have to remove the clips to screw it to the door panel and I don't want to hurt the felt with a grinder this is on a 1989 Ford Ranger but I don't see how to remove the clips

Hey there! Our parts are specific down to the body style of the vehicle, so to ensure we are recommending the correct part for you, is your Ford Falcon a 2 door Sedan, Sedan Delivery, Passenger Van, Station Bus, or Wagon?

could you have applied the second coat to the aluminum block instead of the rubber?? That would come in handy when installing longer weatherstrip like a trunk or door.
@SteeleRubberProducts3 ай бұрын
Great question! And the answer is yes. Once you've applied and spread the adhesive on both the surface of the vehicle and the weatherstripping, you may apply that final thin bead on the vehicle surface. For projects with a large surface area, like a trunk, using this gluing method, we recommend installing 2-3 feet of rubber at a time. That prevents the glue from curing too quickly and allows you to take your time installing it. Thank you for watching!!

Question. Now if you applied the new peel n stick and realized later after it set that you applied it backwards. Can it be removed and re-used?
@SteeleRubberProducts3 ай бұрын
Great question! We don't recommend taking the seal off of the surface after it's been applied, even if it's just seconds after you initially press it into place. This is because it can compromise the efficacy of the seal. Now, with the scenario you are referring to, I'm assuming that might be hours later, and at that point, you probably would not be able to get the seal back off without damaging it. That is the #1 reason we always stress that doing a test fit is so important! You want to make sure you are installing your seal correctly, whether that is placement or orientation. Thank you for watching!

I am not sure how much footage was used in this installation, however, we sell this Insert Trim by the foot, or in 15ft and 30ft lengths. 78 F150 , does the cowl seal attach with the LIP UP or LIP DOWN??
@SteeleRubberProducts4 ай бұрын
Great question! The Cowl Lacing for your '78 F150 is an L shape that attaches with clips. It will install like an upside down "L", so the clip side will be flush against the vehicle once pressed in and the lip will be at the top. We hope that answers your question, please feel free to contact us via social media or by phone to answer any additional questions. Thank you for watching!

I had to install a shattered windscreen with really hard seals like this. It took hours and I got cut so much. The locking strip is still in progress 1 week later. (It was for a decorational car, the broken windscreen was a choice)
@ByGraceThroughFaith7774 ай бұрын
Do it on an actual car with a strip thats 5 ft long and has glue on it... its so simple when it is a sample of the real thing. Also, surface prep is key too.
@SteeleRubberProducts4 ай бұрын
You are correct, it's much easier to do this in a small section for demonstration than on a vehicle with larger footage. And yes, surface prep is absolutely vital! Check out our latest video to see these gluing techniques, plus an additional one, used for installing the rear dutch door seals on a Chevy Astro van. Thank you for watching!!

@SteeleRubberProducts5 ай бұрын
Hey there, it sounds like you are doing everything right but running into a common issue with these types of gaskets. Assuming all the parts are correct, getting the rubber seated over the pinchweld is tough because the glass is fighting you and the rope is blocking the pinchweld from seating all the way in the channel. Once you get the bottom started and you're pulling the rope, constantly try to push the glass down and into position to get as much of the bottom on as possible. Then move half way up one side, get that in the best position, then halfway up the other side, and so on. Trying to make sure the glass is installed symmetrically. You do have to constantly guide the glass into position and it gets harder as you near the end. We hope this helps! Don't hesitate to call us at 800-447-0849 or email us at [email protected] for quicker communication if you still run into issues. We are open Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm EST. Thank you for watching!

Does the stainless require any clips to secure in the gasket?
@SteeleRubberProducts5 ай бұрын
Great question! No, the reveal molding does not require any clips or glue to stay in place. The trim piece should fit snugly in the gasket groove and the ends of the trim pieces will lock together at the corners which will also help keep them in place. Additionally, once the gasket it installed onto the vehicle body, it will tighten the grip on the trim piece as well as the glass to secure them in place. Thank you for watching!!

Thank you for the video! I’m installing a push on double bulb wiper slide seal. I was successful in installing the seal on one vertical length and the top but I’m struggling to push the seal on to the metal guide on the other vertical length and the bottom. I partially brought in the slide which helped align the seal and metal tab but it still won’t sit on the metal guide. I appreciate any suggestions or tool recommendations you may have.

You don't use weatherstrip cement?
@SteeleRubberProducts5 ай бұрын
Great question! There are some door weatherstrips that are glue-on type which require adhesive, however, the specific seals we used in this video featured pins. Door weatherstrips with pins does not require adhesive because the pins keep it in place when the door is opened, and if the door is shut, the rubber will create that watertight seal. You may use weatherstrip adhesive if you'd like for an additional safety measure, it would just make for a messier job. Thank you for watching!!

Too bad their website has no gasket or windshields for a 66 chev bel air. Very weird.
@SteeleRubberProducts5 ай бұрын
Hey there! We responded to your comment on our other windshield gasket video, but wanted to post the same response here, too. I'm sorry you're having a frustrating time trying to find parts for your vehicle. The windshield for the '66 Chevrolet Bel Air models was glued in, not installed with a gasket. I'm not quite sure what the "sticky urethane roll gasket" is that you mentioned kept coming up in your search results. Urethane Adhesive is applied with a caulking gun and used to glue in windshields while Butyl Tape (comes in a roll) is a very sticky, pressure-sensitive adhesive that is also used to glue in windshields. If either of those are what you've been seeing, it's because the windshield for your vehicle is a glue-in type. If you would like to email us some photos of your windshield, that would greatly help us in recommending which parts will work for your vehicle. You can email us photos to [email protected] and one of our customer service representatives will be in communication with you. Thank you for watching, and we look forward to speaking with you!

Hi! I'm facin an issue with my 1994 Ford Probe GT. Original spares for the window weatherstipes do not exist anymore, not even on ebay. I was unable to find a compatible product here in México City. There are like the "universal" ones but they don't work for my vehicle. Do you happen to have anything that can save my car? Maybe not the original, I understand, but something that can be fit into my door and do the job would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I spoke with a member of our Research & Development team to get recommendations for any of our universal parts that may work for your car. Since we don't have a direct fit replacement, we can only recommend parts that MIGHT fit your vehicle, but we can't guarantee they would work. Below, I have included links to 5 different beltline weatherstrips that we would recommend trying. We offer free samples of these parts, so I would strongly recommend emailing our customer service department at [email protected] to request samples of these parts so you can do a test fit on your vehicle before purchasing anything! Please let me know if we can be of any further help. One thing that should’ve been mentioned is most glue is extremely temperature sensitive. If you’re doing this in a cold shop, it’s going to take far longer for the glue to get tacky.
@SteeleRubberProducts6 ай бұрын
That is correct! And for warmer temperatures, the glue will tack up rather quickly. Thank you for mentioning that!
