Ragbrai is one of the best ways to spend a week. We've done it twice and we love it. We were in Villisca (the Axe Murder town) one year and there were two pre-teen girls selling lemonade to buy a buddy bench. Besides being the best, coldest lemonade I had all week, it was such a wholesome story.

I've wanted to do RAGBRAI for 30 years.I finally got my chance this year. I retired last August, and ran out of excuses to not do the ride. Not this year, though! It was hard, no doubt! I spent a good deal of time on the bike before I went, and was pretty confident. But really, it was hard! Lotsa hills! All the hardship was overcome by the whole atmosphere of the event. I took my time every day, talked with the locals, struck up conversations with other cyclists on the road., ate stuff I would never eat at home.. the whole experience! It may not be for everyone, but I will be back! It's like running away from home to join the circus for a week!

I did the RAGBRAI several years ago. I made sure I was ready for the biking. But I guess I should have just practiced drinking. It's like Mardi Gras on two wheels. And if you want a shower, get there before 3PM or wait 45 minutes. The guy who collected money said they time everyone. Men average 5 minutes. Women 22 minutes!

Liked both videos so far. Been on RAGBRAI on the road, as support, and multiple times on the event committee in my local town in Iowa. Nice job!

As a Kansas girl I've always known about this ride. In my younger days I used to cycle a lot, but never did it. Now, listening to you all, I'm sad I didnt. Maybe I'll have to get into cycling shape again and do it in '25. July is usually when I go to visit family.....we can make it our honeymoon!

Myanmar is closed to foreign visitors due to civil unrest (war) there. We ship out of Darwin to Timor Leste at the end of June to drive to Europe (then Africa and Americas) and will need to go through Laos then Tibet, Nepal, India etc. Trip will change and vary due to different circumstances along the way. Great interview Well done.

With your friends having their baby in Mexico, not only did the baby get instant citizenship there, but I think the parents could have gotten citizenship there pretty easily too if they had wanted it. We had friends from Australia that were worried about coming to Mexico because the wife was pregnant and it was expected to be a problem delivery, but they took the plunge and came here anyway. They also were very impressed with the doctors and hospital system here when they arrived a couple of months before she was about to give birth, but so funny - the girl went into labour and they didn't even make it out the door of their Air BNB before she gave birth - it happened that quick and easy in the end.

Lots of "surf" Baja is explored via long 4x4 excursions. It sounds like you didn't venture far from hwy 1. Given your overland rig, I hope you do some more exploring before leaving baja. A lot of the remoteness you heard about was likely from travels too and from these areas. Google Scorpion Bay or Punta Colonet. Those are semi decent examples of popular more "remote" surf breaks. I'll agree even at both spots there's always someone or somewhere to grab a tecate, but I'd hate to breakdown an hour or more into one of those dirt roads. I think those type of situations are where the "survival" stories come from

The vlogs you produce show one side of of your travels. These are the conversations and observations that friends have over a beer, around the campfire, and tell the story behind the vlogs, the good things, the humorous things, personal observations, etc. that make traveling and swapping stories so much fun. Keep at it, we enjoy them. Travel safe.
