This is *almost* allowed RAW! And it could be easily fixed with no change, but just to point it out for fun, *technically* it would have to be thunderstep that was quickened and spare the dying as an action (but makes no difference, still uses action, bonus action, and same amount of sorc points). This is because casting a bonus action spell (Thunderstep) means you can only cast/have cast a Cantrip spell as your action (Spare the Dying). If you cast ANY bonus action spell (including a bonus action Cantrip, like Shillelagh or a quickened Spare the Dying/Firebolt etc), then your action can ONLY be/have been a cantrip. Basically if you are casting a spell with a bonus action and an action, the action does have to be a cantrip (even if the bonus action is also cantrip). 'One leveled spell per turn' is the shorthand for this, but it's actually pretty inaccurate both ways. It incorrectly allows bonus action cantrip + action leveled spell (which is against RAW) and incorrectly disallows action surge multiple spells or leveled spell + reaction leveled spell on same turn (such as casting two fireballs and countering the counterspell to your first fireball with your own counterspell- you can absolutely cast 3 leveled spells in one turn according to RAW with the right build).

This is also not "allowed" because Tempestuous Magic uses bonus action to fly, not "just happens" so she shouldnt have bonus action for any spell. So either take some hit and is not flying or she should Spare the dying one :D

That encounter was so clearly set up to be one of the hardest encounters in the campaign, and she just broke it here. One of the easiest times they've ever had with an encounter - they even finished all the little bonus objectives.

Not all of them, there were two tents they didn't make it too. Brennan talks about what was in them in the corresponding Adventuring Party. But they were never intended to grab everything, and got more than Brennan planned for them to be able to.

So probably more accurate to say I’m allergic to cats in general, but now I have just two boy cats after losing my two senior girls, my allergies have not weakened even with half the number of cats lol

In a matter of two rounds, she annihilated half the battlefield by herself. People label Em as Agent of Chaos, but she isn't. Really look at what she does, and you see it: She is most tactical player at that table. Every single thing that she does is built to grab the plot ball, gain some sort of advantage for later, or otherwise advance her and/or the party as a whole. She pretty uses every single possible action she can on any given turn, keeping her action economy as optimal as she can.

@@jtjpro13 Nope. Out of combat, everything she does is STILL to gain advantage, or otherwise further the plot and/or her character. Yes, even Sexy Rat, which was done to try and get the one goth kids familiar. What she does only SEEMS chaotic, but it's absolutely done to a direct point, without fail, every single time. Yeah, there's funny moments, but she's a comedian by trade, funny was always going to happen.

It is one of the advantages a player has over the DM. Emily just knows how to be versatile with her toolkit. She's not throwing grenades; she shoots the explosive barrel. The difference between being chaos and causing it.

@@Doinge honestly that move was so cool that we all just let her take an extra bonus action to stabilise him. two melee hits means full death regardless so getting him out of the mob was what really saved his life. spending a sorcery point to stabilise him is just extra 'fuck you, brennan' flavour at that point

The Tempest Cleric Channel Divinity is a free action that maximizes your rolls whenever you roll thunder or lightning damage, so you can just do that one whenever at no action cost. It's actually *really* forgiving in its use. There are so many different Channel Divinities though, it's hard to keep track of how each of them work. But yeah as far as I can tell, her whole turn was legal to implement, including casting multiple spells in one turn: Quickened Spell to use Thunder Step as a bonus action, Channel Divinity as a free action to maximize the thunder damage rolls of Thunder Step, and a cantrip as an action. She did say it in the wrong sequence (if you're casting a cantrip and a levelled spell on the same turn, you have to Quicken Spell the levelled spell instead of the cantrip), but for the same result it was perfectly executable.

@@DParkerNunya You're correct in that cantrips can be Quickened, but there's a very particular rule whenever any spell is cast as a bonus action: "A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven’t already taken a bonus action this turn. You can’t cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action." Unfortunately when you would Quicken a cantrip, the above rule would still apply, and you could only use your action for another cantrip rather than a non-cantrip like Thunderstep. But if you Quicken the Thunderstep, the above rule still allows you to use the cantrip for the action, and all would be in order. It's a bit of a messy rule though, and I would agree that it could've been worded better to also allow for the Action -> Thunderstep and Bonus Action -> cantrip.

My personnal fave was one time when Emily quietly asked Murph "What did you get" after they rolled initiative or something like that, and he very pitifully answered "A two..." to wich she offered the funniest, borderline condescendent "Oh." while putting a hand on his arm and looking away from from
