The only way you can truly become a cashless society is if you can do the following: 1 institute a constitutional right to banking access, ensuring that you always have access to funds. 2 those funds can't be siezed, frozen, or restricted for living expenses. 3 banks can not close your account relationship without due process. 4 access to funds is guaranteed 24/7 regardless of any network outages. 5 access to banking is free. Unless those conditions are met then moving away from cash is an idiotic move for any society to take.

Whatever happened to freedom? If a store owner doesn't want to accept cash, why should the government be allowed to force them? If you don't like it then don't shop there.

VISA, MasterCard and the other card manufacturers make a HUGE load of money selling your data and the transaction fees are just there to make people think that's where they make those billions. They are the ones who lobby against the use of cash - because they can't track cash!

my big question is what value is there in pixels? at least with cash you have something tangible, something physical that can relate to value over something you cannot see yet claim it has a market value.
@BullionNowКүн бұрын
Both are still backed by the same thing, or rather... nothing! But cash does still work even when you're without internet!
@SourceCod3319 сағат бұрын
Technically those pixels refer to some information on a database, which refers to a set of binary on a storage device, which is a collection of electrons Technically electrons are in a way tangible. I would say the subjective value we give to physically fiat currency isn’t much stronger than the subjective value we give to that set of electrons. Though I can tell why it feels more volatile.

not accepting cash is against the law every store must accept all Australian currency in any form as it is legal tender. and its bout time it was enforced by law and any and all business's refusing to accept cash should be sued fined and have the licence for operating a business taken from them and banned from operating a business for life
@BullionNowКүн бұрын
Sadly the ACCC say now that "Businesses don’t have to accept cash" so long as it's communicated before the sale. It's going to become more and more commonplace :(

Part of the epic unboxing videos that you do for us viewing stackers is the surprise not knowing whats in the boxes so whats the point in showing us the product in your thumbnail picture theirs no surprise
@BullionNowКүн бұрын
Always a battle between transparency to make things easily searchable for people and to have a bit of mystery. We're actually trialing a new feature through youtube to set multiple thumbnails for each video to actually find out what our viewers like! So hopefully we'll be able to get some better data on that front. Thanks for the feedback though! Will take it on board :)

There is NO WAY I will ever use a debit card. So vendors will have to pay the credit card fees. Debit cards leave a huge security hole straight into your bank account.
@Dekedence19 сағат бұрын
vendors pass on the fees to you, the customer by manipulating their price to include it. You're paying the fee regardless of the payment method

When the net goes down, the shop cannot serve to gain money.
@SourceCod3319 сағат бұрын
If the net goes down for the length of time that is needed for that to matter, we are screwed in far larger ways than not being able to make transactions It’s the same as saying “all banks could go down at once, so you should have all of your money on hand” Or even farther “the federal government could go down, so your should have all your money in the form of gold or intrinsic valuables” You’re not wrong, but we would have far larger problems if that were to happen. The store itself would not have employees there to run it, is what I mean by far larger problems. Clearly it’s not logical to base society off of those assumptions of failure like legally enforcing all markets to spend the money to handle cash, and more logical to just put preventatives on the electronic system failing in the first place and past that to accept cash is a choice. Same as it would be illogical to force all stores to accept gold.

My closest bullion dealer doesn't accept cash, so I've never dealt with them
