I would suggest consulting a local Cabinetmaker, see if you could work out a deal to design some custom inserts for those drawers, that could be laser cut from like a 3mm (1/8th inch) Baltic Birch. Though for small parts I would still suggest Craft Bead Drawers.

Yeah this is totally a test thing right now and if I like how it all comes together but want to tweak it or make it better, I might go down that route. Don't want to invest too much money into it at the moment when I don't even know if it will work yet or if I will like it!

U would think that someone would have made "the perfect" storage solution for Lego with Lego being the thing that was thought about while designing it(even though it could work for many other things). And drawer systems should have smaller compatible spacers/dividers/trays that help break a space down into smaller areas. I will say that u should make those a lil bigger cause its irritating to get a part out of the smaller areas when ur fingers don't fit easily. I have been through this with the lil tackle/beads divider containers u can buy at craft stores

When are lego fans not resorting lol. I often have 2 totally distinct colours in the same section to lower the amount i need. The real killer these days is the amount of new parts lego comes out with, to keep up with 1 part per section we'll soon need tens of thousands of sections kekw. Anyway, it looks great, good luck with the space :P
@JJJBricks

Yeah it might end up with two colors per section which is kind of what I was doing before. Yes! They keep coming out with new molds!

According to bricklink there are 4928 different light bluish grey elements. There are 15,000 white elements. You're going to need a lot more dividers
@JJJBricks
@JJJBricks 2 күн бұрын
HAHAHAHA yikes that is terrifying. Not every color will get this treatment and it won't be able to get that nutty, but I'm having fun with it and sciencing it all and becoming more aware of the types of parts I have a lot of or a little of has been a good learning experience.

Right but the number of dividers is significantly less than the number partitions. E.g.two dividers make four partitions, four make 9, and so on

Amateur here - but I have been sorting lego for 3 months now after finally getting room to dust off legos that have been in storage for 20 years. I'm sorting mainly by type, and it seems fairly easy to locate the right color even when mixed. For parts I have loads of (standard lego), I'm putting two colors in each bin - with nice contrast. Doing black/white, red/blue, gray/brown, orange/tan and yellow/green. All shades of a color sorted with their main color. I cannot have too many containers. Picking parts out of your drawers looks a little painful with sausage fingers, and with nany small containers you'll probably need many many overflow containers, because amounts vary heavily.

Yes I totally agree. Very valid points. I have no idea where this will lead or if it will work, but sciencing it all has been fun and overall will help me organize better in the long run even if this isn't the solution.

@Zarina870
@Zarina870 3 күн бұрын
As much as I appreciate the organization, I really try to stay away from dividers to sort most Lego parts. I dislike fishing for small pieces repeatedly in small openings. You cannot dump them out if you need several since the whole container would dump. I wonder if it would work using less dividers and combining same small parts in a color family (eg all shades of grey). Definitely harder to keep inventory (as you may need for a Bricklink store) but easy to pull whole container out and have parts accessible- in fact, you may want different shades of grey when working on rock work for example. Of course, just my opinion and do whatever works best for you :)

Please let me know how can i made it and pay just 90$, because i actually reach 250$+ if i start from 0.. i don't know where you found them so cheap. plz help me
@JJJBricks
@JJJBricks 3 күн бұрын
Unfortunately I don't have time to help you find all the parts, but Bricklink is the best place to start. I also only spent $90 USD becuause I had so many parts in my collection already. Yes, starting from zero would be much more expensive. Plus I swapped a few parts here and there if I didn't have a piece that I felt was too important to save money. I just went through the parts list on Bricklink and started pulling what I had in my collection first and putting all the parts I didn't have into a wanted list. It takes some time to move stuff around within Bricklink wanted lists to find the best prices. It is tedious and takes time I'm afraid. So it really comes down to time vs cost and which is worth more to you. Good luck!

Hi jim, Nice video! I have a question, did you ordered all the missing minifigs on bl for those sets or will you sell those sets without the figs? Also for youre new boxes for the 2x bricks, a rack is really helpful for that, now if you need a box at the bottom its a real pain to get it (I have the same problem 😅), but I get it that you cant put that because you ran out of space
@JJJBricks
@JJJBricks 17 күн бұрын
I ordered all the parts I needed for the figs which honestly wasn’t that bad. I had a bunch of spare parts like legs and some of the torsos from my collections plus all the accessories so I mostly just needed some torsos and legs here and there. And some heads. The biggest cost was the flag cloth elements. But yes I want everything to be complete! Also yeah a rack would be nice, the issue is and I should have shown this more in the video is right next to the stack of bins is a bunch of pipes and things that are in super awkward places that are extremely inconvenient for me to place storage…
