Love the headbands! Those look great :) I agree with keeping hair out of my face. I'm not a Shein person, but might have to get some of those cute headbands. Also love the dresses with the headbands and earrings!

I think the next teacher will want the wipes and tissues (I would) but churches and other charitable groups that have food pantries always make sure that people who need them will get them. Best of luck!

Congratulations on your move! As far as the extra supplies, I would leave them for the next teacher who will be coming into your classroom. I know I'd appreciate all the Kleenex and wipes! Wishing you the best of luck!

I am so glad you are okay as I have been wondering about you. Congrats on the move and I know it's so hard moving and also teaching. Looking forward to future teaching/lifestyle vlogs. First year teaching is always hard but I think teaching in general is so much tougher than it used to be. I'm retiring this year and am so happy that I'm not teaching full time anymore but I will be subbing. I gave my extra Kleenex to Specials teachers and even the aides at our school.

4th is such a good grade (I've taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th - 4th is in my top 2)! You could totally get away with pastel in 4th grade, but obviously do what you think is best.

I received my teacher certification in 2021. We were required to write an edTPA paper. If you don't know what that is you can look it up for specifics, but essentially it is a document prepared while doing student teaching where the teacher candidate proves their ability to teach, understand content, understand lesson presentation (requires a video of teaching the students), and classroom management. Not every state requires this document but our state does. Student teaching is great as far as learning the technical requirement for teaching such as making lesson plans, running the classroom, organizing your content , and preparing all the items needed for that day's lesson. I have to say that being a substitute teacher actually was more beneficial than student teaching. This is where you can learn the personality of the school, work along side teachers, see how discipline is used by the Principal, administration and your fellow teachers. The biggest enlightenment for me was how each school treated cell phone usage. I was in one school which was lax on cell phone usage and one that was very strict on the cell phone issue. The one with lax control of cell phones were the schools that had the most discipline problems simply because the students could communicate during school. For instance- video of a boyfriend flirting with another girl was sent to the girlfriend, or the students would communicate between classrooms to take pictures of the exam and send it to everyone. I refuse to work in schools that do not have a clear and enforced cell phone policy. When you actually go looking for a job you need to make a list of your expectations as a teacher and make sure what you want matches up to the school you choose.

How do you like benchmark advance? I think that’s the curriculum we will be using next year.
@kayleemarie33595 ай бұрын
It has its ups and downs ( as most curriculum does). I will say the first year using it, its really hard to fully understand but it gets easier! Just know the rigor of this curriculum is HIGH! So don't expect all your students to master it!

You’re doing a great!! First year is by far the hardest. I’m on my third. So much more confidence and you figure out what’s important (not spending tons of hours doing room transformations, etc).

Teaching is fun but SO MUCH WORK! The data is way more than anyone can ever imagine, unless you are a teacher. I'm retiring this year and couldn't be happier about it even though I love teaching....way too much work these days. It's good that you are keeping it real about the challenges of teaching.

Also, as someone who constantly has to deal with mountains of paper (avg. class size here is 35, my biggest class is 44) if you can laminate the frog check-in cards and make them reuseable it helps a lot with administration!

Could a clip on mic help to protect your voice? I cannot speak from experience yet (only next year 🎉), but I plan to get one to protect my voice and also because I think it would help with pronunciation and phonology, maybe even classroom management?!
