Have a buddy that planted 600-700 acres (somewhere in between) with a 8 row 7000 and either a 806 or 856 for 20 some years. Now upgraded to a 986 with cab. Central Illinois.

Be careful planting into green cover crop on corn. If it’s too tall the corn will stretch and grow really spindly. Green also has given me fits with Nitrogen tie up. The corn was much darker and better looking early on where we skipped some of the cover.

Did you fixed the corn from dropping down on your fans ooo by the way its my first time owning the 6600 I'm having trouble with finding Reverse yeah 😅 I know but seriously I can't get it in reverse I've tried all others and it works fine but no reverse

Yes, I fixed the issue with corn getting into my cleaning fan on my old 6600, there's a video on how I fixed that. Also, reverse is kinda tricky on those machines, you might need to adjust you shift linkage

15:33 Just to let you know, that on the left, center in the water? It's their winter wood food pile... The hole you showed just after that? Is 99% their Den. Beavers do not only live in Lodges but also, when there's not enough wood they dig a Den in the berm of a creek or canal (those are man made waterways). They keep their food pile closest at home. The hole you showed first is probably from that muskrat or otters if they are there too, although they also share houses with Beavers. Beavers also make reserve pond's. So, I bet that the first dam held the 3rd pond, the second dam that was useless, probably was a bit flooded due to the last dam.. And the last dam is the dam for their main pond, where they live. What I suspect is that the family of 2 🦫 🦫 adults and probably 2 🦫 🦫 kiddos from the springtime are gone.. Can be that young adults from last year are in close range, at neighbors or something so it can be that next year there's a new guy or gal beaver in town. (Maybe destroy all kind of Den's and other holes for other critters 😊 but also Absolutely clear every dam, because any remnants will give them the need to stay. and what you saw could have been another muskrat, the partner of... well, the one that was swimming upside down.. Hopefully I've been of some help for what I know.. and that's absolutely not everything, lol! 😂 maybe 1 or 2 can still be there, one never knows, no? 😊 And keep vlogging, somehow you are very natural at it, most don't know where to look and whatever but with you that's not the case 👍😃 Happy Holidays to you and yours! 🎄🎅

Learning the hard way about the 6600 combine..... For 35 years I picked all my corn with a two row New Idea 324 picker sheller. Used the small sheller. """" Alone """" I could pick enough corn to fill two semis per day. So...everyone told me I needed to buy a combine. I did. What a mistake !!!!! I used my 6600 combine .......... The most I can pick in one day """ alone """ is 1 and a half semi loads ! Point being ?? Your chasing wagons with a combine.....stopping to dump each time. With my two row picker.....I hook up a wagon......pick till its full..... get another wagon..........and keep moving ! Now the kicker.... fuel....... My Deutz 7085 tractor uses a half gallon per acre to pick corn. Try that with a 6600 combine ! ! Repairs ??? I spent 300 dollars on my New Idea over the 35 years I used it. The 6600 combine........oh the John Deere dealer loves you !!!!!!!!

We ran a lot of those 7700/20 & 8800/20 turbos and titan ii down here in MS delta in rice and beans. Good good machines. I like seeing this older equipment out there still running. I know few farms that still have the first self propelled combine they bought restored and cut some every year. Pretty cool.

This looks great… all of it. I was born into farming. In the 70s and 80s, we had an 806 and a 7000 also. Prior to the 7000, we had a JD 1240; the 1240 is/was a finger planter also. We also had a 560 diesel and a 706 diesel. That 806 will run forever. It has been said that International had to merge with Case because those early IH tractors were built too well and consequently IH didn’t sell enough parts and shop labor. I understand that you’re trying to save on seed cost but 180,000 is a good soybean plant population. If there would happen to be issues with emergence, there are some extra seeds so there are still enough plants for a good stand. Remember, soybeans emerge by helping each other emerge (they help each other push through the soil surface). A few extra seeds help the seeds that are maybe under trash or a crusted surface, etc. Again though, this is fabulous! You are doing a fabulous job. There is nothing wrong with farming with this type of equipment. Today, we have new equipment and it is a continual headache… electronics and computers make it very stressful. And, the cost of today’s equipment! Currently, the price of equipment is completely ridiculous! It’s insanity! Subscribed!

We also plant with a 7000 with finger corn meters but we use John Deere brush bean meters and we have a home built splitter kit. We have found that even a basic gps light bar can give you some insurance when you can't see the markers. WAAS can be a pain but it's better than no seeing anything.

Looks a bit like the front axle pivit bearing may be a bit worn. (hard to tell in video) I had to machine the casting and axle on my 806. Part number, I believe, is 379943R1. Also curious if you have the casting flaw for the main hydraulic pump fixed? Oil gallery doesn't line up and it blows out the O-ring. The solution is to machine the O-ring on the pump cover oversize so it covers the gallery. There should be a service bulletin for specs from international.
