On a white shirt, the second layer of ice would be great but it would be awesome for overdying a light colored shirt and I'm thinking about using this technique on a whole dress. Thanks so much for the tutorial. ❤

How long will a bottle of thickened water last? Does it have a "shelf life" like a bottle of mixed color?

I keep it in the fridge. I’ve had a bottle in there for like 6 months. If it molds toss it out and start over. It should be clear during use. ♥️🌈

Hello! You have been an inspiration to me! Recently retired and I've always been an artsy person. My daughter has a hair salon named Deja Vu Hair Salon in Queensbury NY. She asked me to make some tye dye shirts to sell. Omg I love doing it. We just put my first 9 shirts on her shelf! I find myself watching you in the middle of the night 😂 Any who.... What kind of dye do u use and what will help to not have the dye get onto other clothes? ? What helps make the dye last longer without it fading ?

Procion dye. Professional detergent and a thorough wash out. Once it’s bonded it stays put, hence the white stripe. Avoid bleach and color safe bleach. I have shirts that are several years old and they look just as good as the day I dyed them. The shirt falls apart before the dye does…. Watch a lot of tutorials and check the description box for links. ♥️🌈

It’s so symmetrical; it’s perfection. I absolutely LOVE it! Your patience with the pleating really shows. I really struggle with the pleating, but will try to learn patience.

Can you tell me what kind of lines you drew on the shirt? Placement etc? I tried this shirt, but i didn’t end up with this pattern. I know i need to be lighter-handed with the dye. I'm just trying to check on some details before i try again. Thanks so much. Love this pattern!!

First off, Steph forms the best spirals ever. Much more difficult to do than it looks. Next, I still don't understand how a project stewing in that dark muck doesn't turn out as a one-toned murky mess ... but Steph pulls it off.

I just want to say thank you for showing how you can reassess and adjust as you go. I never realized you could dye over or add more if you don't like the saturation. I know it sounds simple but really thank you

This is great tutorial, I was able to make a relatively good t-shirt for someone with no experience. I have a question though, how do you get such a tiny line when you start applying the tie dye. I have precision needle and it is better then using the bottle applicator, but my line is in anyway as crisp. Thanks for any tips. I also have an issue with darker colors getting onto my yellow 😢

That's one of the most beautiful patterns and colors I've ever seen and I've been wearing and making them since the 60's! I'd wear that shirt in a hot New York minute until it's worn out!

I tried to do this but with wedgewood blue and got speckles all over my white space lol yours is beautiful!
