Nice to see you restoring an older Volvo m8! I bought an 03 2.9 s80 last November. Needed a new catalytic converter and now needs a new heater core I’m gonna try and do myself, they go out on Volvos but thankfully you don’t have to take out the whole dash on these! If you get a mystery coolant leak it’s the heater core in the future. Cheers m8! 🤙🏼

I'm assuming the rear sprocket is 16 teeth I'm old school and honestly don't recall how many teeth we had on the crank sprocket but it was twice the size of what I see on bikes these days

Gears I’ve run… 44/16 180mm cranks 45/16 “” 46/16 “” 44/16 175mm 45/16 177.5mm 43/15 and back on 180mm 46/16 w 180mm was good for novice class but too slow for int so I started experimenting. I’m presently running 43/15 w 180mm - 43 helps me get out of the gate a little better and 15 helps me get a better top end. I’m not a flaming hot spinner so this combo seems to work well for my powerband. I do better with a longer slower stroke. Rollout is several inches better. If I get any stronger I’ll move back up to 44 on front keep at 15 rear and 180mm

Mine had a 1.5 Carby motor, 5 speed manual transmission, no power steering and wind up windows! Yeahh that's the one I had heaps of posters of the GTR familias n turbo Ford Lasers from back in the day, swapped some BMX parts with my a bloke from Glasglow for a 323 3 door hatch with the GTX interior, even ended up getting my parts for nothing lol back but kinda wish i did more with the car, got it running and driving before I sold her on!

I don't know BMX but in Fixed or Track or other. Bigger chain ring is a trend. You have more power and faster despite you trade it off with cadence a bit slower. You also able to keep top end speed better as well. The spinning like crazy to top out speed is old school now. By the way, still depends on where you lives. If you lives where hilly area. Stick with common sense and your strength.
@AaroMesa2 ай бұрын
Yeah man I did mention if you live near hills to stick with a lower gearing :D

That would be the norm for your bike, there could be a problem with the bearings in the hubs if it shows resistance

So I just got a bmx been awhile I plan on mainly hitting like paved trails and just messing around in town riding ( not all flat and speed ) would you recommend a smaller front sprocket ? Or swap the front and the rear cog ?

@@AaroMesa I'm currently riding 31/9. I'm thinking about dropping down to 30/9. Seems to be the best ideal gear for a BMX. Not so much struggle for a single speed yet fast enough to actually get around. I also think crank length matters. I'm running 175mm.
